BTW, on another note I just bought NYS modern 4918 (spalt maple/ash/Braz RW). I dig it heavily but am open to trading for another 5 string Sad in a more traditional finish per my classifieds thread here:

so, today i had first chance to try out 5 string sadowsky metro. it's RV5 i think. so anyway. at first glance it was "standard jazz". to be honest setup was a bit too high and strings were dead. more or less. what amazed me was the sound this thing was pumping out. i did try metro 4 string before and that thing was so good. setup was super nice, sound was so GOOOD even though i did not plug it. didn't have amp then near me. but this 5er knocked me down with that fat-phat-balls to the walls sound and lows are so big but so clear. never before did i hear something like that . i mean that B string kills, every note, every pitch is there, only it's warm and thick. every note comes out clear and ringing without sounding sterile or harsh. i figure in a band context that would sound sooooo sooo great. next was the volume control. that thing just moved the whole sound. when turned down sound would have more "thump" and organic vibe. when turned all the way up it would just growl, curse, and kick in the face. it's incredible! it's so musical! that thing just sings. i'm still in shock. hands down it's the best bass i ever tried. it's tank like, it's solid, it's comfortable it's a player's, musical instrument.
You're done! Your life will never be the same. Once you've had a Sadowsky in your hands, it's all over. I have a Sadowsky NYC and a Metro (both 4 string) and the quality/sound/feel of the Metro is every bit as good as the NYC - the NYC just has a fancy top.

You're going to love it!! Just be prepared to have an even worse case of Sadowsky GAS.

Question for those more in the know than myself:
Are there any rumours/signs in the entrails that Roger and Co might release a Metro Will Lee 5? I"m really smitten with the 1.75 nut width on my PJ5 and would love to try that midboost out as well. I still want an ash/maple JJ5 Shadoosky in my stable, but would hold off patiently if I knew a Metro WL5 was forthcoming.

Speaking of Metro Will Lee's, there's a bunch of new WL4's on the Sadowsky site now, 2 weigh less than 9 lbs! That ash/maple one sure looks sweet, and at 8.75lbs it's into NYC weight territory.

I"ve come close to pulling the plug on a few different moderns/mv5's, then I remind myself that the 1.75 nut width on my PJ5 is just PERFECT. And I didn't even realize it when I snagged it off the Sadowsky site. My left hand just immediately went 'oh yeah that's better'.

My left hand just might have to deal with the nut width if it means I can have THAT bass!
I still love my 24-5. It is still the most "me" of the Sadowsky trio I have been fortunate enough to enjoy recently. They are awesome basses. Plus that cocobolo is stunning to look at.
I may actually be in a "too much of a good thing" state right now. The MV524 is an absolutely joy to play. It is a VERY nice bass. And tonally, it has a really smooth tone with just enough "grit" to it to make it perfect. I know there is a lot of single coil love around here, but I don't think I'd do anything to change that bass at all.
And lastly, this new four sting is more fun than I could ever imagine. I really was enjoying the Lakland, but this bass is just better from every aspect. The fours string Sadowsky neck has excellent geometry. I actually like a bit wider nut, and this bass offers that over the Lakland. And of course, the Sadowsky preamp is awesome. Plus this bass seems to have a great abundance of that "life" that seems to be ellusive in some others. You can almost feel it singing in your hands.
I am seriously considering fitting the four with SCs. I did like the tone of them in the Lakland, and it would give me a bit more variety among the three. Also still thinking tort for the PG. I have always loved the LPB/Tort combo. I just have to do it despite the reservations of the club.
I really like the SC's in my Metro WL4. I just recently put the Aguilar SC 60's version pups in my Carvin fretless, and those pups are really sweet too! Really made the bass come to life - I like them much more than the Nordstrand NJ4SE's I had in the fretless for the last couple years.
These are good problems to have my friend!! And may I say your posts and PMs pushed me over the edge and the Cocobolo beauty I linked to above WILL BE MINE!!! I have no excuses now on gear. PJ5 with flats for everything oldshool and fat, and a roundwound-strung 24-5 as my bright/modern 'funk stick'.

Gold would make a little too "Ken Smithish" for my taste.
You just don't see a lot of gold hardware on Sadowskys. It's out there, but pretty rare for the most part.
I just realized 'WILL BE MINE" wasn't like some kind of B-movie bad guy voice going on in your head but rather you actually bought that dude!!!

At this point I don't know if I could swing the gold. Sonically it'll shimmer like gold though I'm sure.
Between listening to your impressions of your 24-5 and reading KJung's post about how well the Genz Benz Streamliner 900 matches to the Berg AE410 I now have a Sadowsky AND a Berg cab heading my way!!!!
I love how prefect this sentence is...
I think me meant that with the Gold this bass would then become head 'Prefect' of the growing army of Sadowsky brethren.
