I currently own a VW 5 satin and a Metro Express 4. Both are awesome basses but that Express is killer for the price.

I feel there's a lot to be said about getting what you pay for. Therefore, while I feel the new Metro Expresses will be great instruments and fantastic values, they may not be on the same level as the previous Japanese built models. I'm betting the new Metrolines will be a pretty much straight across thing quality/price wise. At least it seems that's the intention.

But ultimately, time will surely tell.

Its a given that the metro express cannot be the same as what it was previously known as.

As far as the Metro, it’s not a sideways move as we hoped. There’s already a price increase shown at 3k+ for the starting point

Definitely. A fretless, unlined PJ5 at a decent price point ... it just wouldn't be possible to resist.

Looking at the 2020 Sadowsky NYC prices, it looks like the mid boost preamp is available as an upgrade for orders other than the single cut and Will Lee. After my current order, I want to order a Vintage 5 with soapbars in the J locations, swamp ash/Brazilian Rosewood. In the modern positions, the soapbars are very punchy, especially in the mids. This might be the way to go for the best of both worlds, a thick fater J tone with the soapbars in the J positions plus a mid boost. :hyper::bassist::hyper::bassist:
