Club Sadowsky!!!

I’ve seen some confusion about this on here, but it seems simple to me that Sadowsky’s coming out of Roger’s NYC shop and Sadowsky’s coming out of Germany aren’t necessarily going to be identical to one another.
actually, they're guaranteed NOT to be identical.

So why the different Sadowsky logo, white letter branded pickups, etc. on the Sadowsky basses made in Germany?
If I may ask...
Roger has the final answer on this of course, but my guess would be for necessary product positioning/differentiation. The Warwick made stuff is the licensed derivative that contains a strongly preserved pedigree, but the NYC stuff is the original. They will always be different, and as such, must be identifiable from each other.

I think this is a pretty good move if this is the case. Preserves the brand(not one doubt the Warwick made basses are top notch quality and "true" Sadowskys) while keeping the NYC instruments "the original". Speaking of which... I'm really thinking about an NYC PJ5.

I think the difference between a NYC custom and a German custom is obviously different on purpose.

People in the know with a good eye will know what it is.

Most people would not ever see it.

This way the NYC is still kept exclusive.

I would hope there is NOT much difference between the German and NYC basses. A short time ago, the only reason NOT to get a (Japanese) Metro is that you wanted a custom option(s); otherwise they were very close in every way(?).
we're just talking "not identical". we are not talking "vastly different". especially in terms of quality and preservation of the pedigree. saying the NYCs are not identical to the warwick made products is not a slam on the warwick products or implied cause for any concern. at least IMHO.

Plus chambered bodies, lighter wood and custom options galore.

Not to mention candid photos of Roger's alabaster-skinned side-lady:

I know I promised him I wouldn't, but seriously, you're a lucky guy Rog. Such poise.

That's a killer shot, almost as good as a Willie Weeks' groove.

Not to commit more 'ElMon thread derails' (I'm seeking help) but I have to admit I was a bit jealous of those folks who had the 'Roger posing with your new bass photos' and prior to getting that PJ5, I had not gotten one for a few purchases.

I specifically asked Kevin Drexler for one with my PJ5, and got the mannequin treatment instead.

Laughed my butt off.

Here's some info on the different logo for the ME basses: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

"Some of you may have noticed the different logo on the headstock. Please permit me to explain… About 15 years ago, when I went to trademark Sadowsky in China, I discovered that a pirate had trademarked Sadowsky before I could. I have been fighting for the return of my trademark for the last five years. We won the previous round on the basis that he has never used the trademark. However, on the last possible day, he appealed the decision, and until the appeal is heard, he still owns the mark. As a result, I have trademarked RSD (Roger Sadowsky Design) and will use that in conjunction with the MetroExpress until the issue is resolved, which I am confident it will be."

Removed the Tort PG and really digging the vibe....just trying to decide on which replacement pickguard, black or aged white pearloid? If anyone is selling an PG that fit a MetroExpress hit me up!
