Club Sadowsky!!!

During the last weekend I was testing the new Hartke LX5500, so I recorded this track using the onboard preamp off on my Sad and using the DI postEQ on the head, this was the result:

It was another confirmation that Sadowsky basses couldn't be related only to their preamp as some people think, the supreme woods quality and the construction makes this basses sounds like we learned to love.

Yes, the Fodera Will Lee 33” scale headless 6 string with a humbucker in the MM/Sweet Spot.
Usually with a northern Pine body and buckeye burl top, 7 piece maple/wedge neck and bloodwood fingerboard and 16.5mm spacing.
The classic Will Lee set up…….

I've owned a ton too and I've had a difficult time getting used to my SC custom build. Aesthetically I'm very happy with it, it's just super cool. However, I do not like the J Super J combo or the Will Lee circuit, seems to have a much lower output than any of my current Sadowsky NYC's (5) and the tone is just odd. That said, I haven't played another Sad with the WL so it may be just the Super J pup. It also hangs differently, not bad just different. Someday I'll replace/modify the bridge pup and maybe pull the WL circuit. As always YMMV.

No the Fodera Matt Garrison, which is 33" ... Will Lee, Matt Garrison: I do not know who these people are; the error was easy to make before coffee kicked in.

you should convert it to 18v....I am not a fan of that pickup combo, I had a custom 55-94 once, and it was terrible IMO....

It's not the WL circuit. It's the SP and SJ pickups.

I have an SP/SJ combo, and while I love the tone, I did notice the output was noticeably lower than my other typically configured J's and PJ's. I asked Roger, and he confirmed it.

So it is a characteristic. It doesn't bother me at all, as I've dealt with it via my signal chain, but just be aware.

I pretty much figured that it was not the WL pre.

18v doesn’t give you more output, it gives you more headroom before you clip the preamp. Overall volume doesn’t change.
Roger has said many times that it’s not a concern on his preamp and if I recall, he couldn’t tell a difference between 9v and 18v.
