This has been answered a million times. The basic differences are:

NYC - lots of options (body woods, tops, finishes, hardware, pickup placement, pickups)
Metro - limited options (body woods, finishes)

NYC - chambered bodies standard - a little lighter on the shoulder
Metro - solid bodies - a little heavier, but still light

NYC - all the Sadowsky sweetness that oozes out of the preamp and pickups.
Metro - all the Sadowsky sweetness that oozes out of the prempa and pickups
Oh wait, that's not a differrence.

NYC - built in USA, overseen my Roger and his expert staff
Metro - build in Japan using the same exact standards as in USA overseen by Roger's staff in Japan

I think that's it in a nutshell. I can't wait for my current bass in production to arrive. It's almost been 4 months, and I'm getting ansy.

I was looking at doing an install myself if I were going to keep that bass, and it looks very easy. If I understand it correctly you move the volume knob to be the VTC (since it is the push/pull) and keep the wiring the same on the push/pull for active. You pull and disconnect the bass and treble pots. You reuse one of the bass/treble knobs as the volume knob (now with no push/pull) and finally install the stacked knob and wire the bass/treble wires back up to it.

Really, if you're used to wiring basses at all, should be a cakewalk. And while you're at it you can swap the blend knob direction, if you're into that :D

Nope!

Our volume pot is not push/pull.
Our Bass Pot is push/pull (on Non-VTC Basses), for active/Passive.

You don't need to remove the Vol/Blend pot ever for a VTC conversion.

What you see in the pic below is what the New layout looks
like....

Ha -- shows how much I use the passive mode. :D

I was right other than which pot was the push/pull though! The bass knob moves up to be the VTC, right?

I was suggesting the blend conversion as a "while you're in there" mod, since some of us like it to operate the other way.

Pickles,

The pots are different....so no you couldn't.

-the Bass Pot is a 25K
-the VTC pot is 250K

Oh got it, thanks! I just looked back at the website and see two pots are included in the kit, I thought it only came with the stacked pot since the replacement push/pull didn't have a knob on it.

So that is even way easier than I thought. And the wiring diagram is super clear. :bassist:

No slight intended at all. Because I had the kids with me, I was in and out quick. Plus, if I walked to the back of the shop where you were, the kids would have followed - and that definitely would have made Roger nervous!

Now can my next bass please have all the required parts? ;)

just wunderin' who keeps track of the Sadowsky club #'s.

I played the RV5PJ at church yesterday. It was very present in the mix, I had my 7 lb. Genz Benz ShuttleMAX 6.0 plugged into a big ol' 80 lb. Peavey BVX 115BW cab (a bit of yin and yang I guess). Monstrous lows and nice smooth highs. I could hear everything that was going on.

I was kind of hunting around for a P5 to go along with my Lakland Skyline Joe Osborn 5 (a really nice bass by the way, I had pangs giving it up). The Sadowsky has both J & P in one bass.
