Time for a Sadowsky Neostrap!!

My basses are light and I use my old leather strap on stage, but I keep the Neostrap at hand for long sessions/rehearsals. Much better than the Confort Strapp (I own one and have not used it again).

This photo is for the recording sessions of my band's album and being with the bass hanging for 8 hours a day was a breeze.

Now you guys have me wanting to try a Neostrap! I've been using comfort strapps for a long time. I also have a planet waves strap I like which is pretty wide and long for when I'm rockin out.

I know this doesn't really help you, but I've also tried the comfort strapps and not liked them. I still have my Sadowsky Neo strap, however.

Tried one back in late '05/early '06. Loved nearly everything about it. Incredibly comfortable, and since I'm not a tall guy (5'8") and I wear my bass pretty high, I loved the short-length option. The deal killer for me? The openings on the ends were too large to securely hold Dunlop straplocks.

So...anyone know if there's been a redesign, or if perhaps I simply got one that just didn't work? Seems like I've seen a few recent pics of these straps wearing the Dunlop locks, so I'm wondering if it might be time to revisit. Thanks...

We use a 3/8" hole specifically to accommodate the Dunlop Straplocks we supply with all of our NYC basses. The hole works fine with conventional strap buttons as well. Were you using the large flat washers when installing your Straplocks??

Thanks so much for the response, Roger! I did use the large washers on the install. This one was the only strap where I've had such an issue, so it was likely just a fluke. Compared to other straps, I seem to recall the material being a bit more thin, and the slits being fairly long. That said, the strap felt fine when looped directly through the buttons, as opposed to using the locks. My OCD just prevented me from not wearing a bass without the locks. Certainly no harm-no foul on this, and I mention it only in the spirit of possibly trying another one, not from a perspective of criticism or complaint. Thanks again!

Funny, in 35+ years of playing various guitars and basses with straps, I never have used straplocks. And I move around a lot. Not sure what I'm missing

I do want to try the Neo strap though, as my "Comfort Strap" isn't when doing a 4 hour gig.

I never could stand strap locks. But I guess if you are twirling the bass around your head maybe you need them.

The Neo Strap is the stuff...I have thinned the herd considerably bass wise and gave a few of them away with basses I have sold but but I think I have about 4 of them here now! I HIGHLY recommend them. I have used just about everything out there due to a degenerative bone disease in my back and the Sadowsky has saved me since the first time I tried one...You will NOT be sorry!

Hmmm ... I may have to try a Neo Strap. I have been using wide straps and the comfort Strap. I don't mind the Comfort Strap, except for long gigs it kind of "clings" to you, and it's not the most comfortable strap when wearing a sport coat.

I have been looking for the 'perfect strap" for a ling time - maybe this is it!

Well, any Neo strap is gonna kinda' cling like that because of that fabric they all seem to have lining the Neo, but I always found the comfort strapps to just seem "bulky" due to their thickness whereas the more slender ones like the Sadowsky and another similar one conformed more comfortably and just seem to feel better.

Hey fellow Sadowsky nuts, been a while since I've posted in here.

I've got the fever again! Assuming the sale of a couple of basses goes thru, I'm thinking of getting another Sadowsky. Although as slow as the music biz has been, I should be saving!

I'm kinda diggin the idea of a new Metro MV5-24. I'm so used to a 24 fret neck and I'd like to get a setup with jazz pickups in it.

Either way I'm going to have to send in my Modern 5 for a fret job & some TLC soon. I've been tearing it up on that bass since 1999 and it had some good wear on it when I got it. You can see some of the wear here.

I've been getting used to playing my UV70 but there is something that was bugging me and I couldn't tell if it was to clanky for me, maybe just the aggressive 70s spec. or the Humcancelling pickups. In any case I swapped out the Blue steels and put on a set of Hi Beams, I think it moved the sound closer to my preference. I've got a few sets of Low Rider SS which I've never used before how they might sound on this bass?

I agree. Every time I go there to get something or get my bass set up they have always been patient and accommodating... even to crap player like me.....
