Cool color combos?

now the question is.....
red or black body?

sunburst is out

Red body, black guard, leave stock white, or go gold? Inlays?

Black body, Tort, black guard, inlays?

If you're thinking of a maple neck, then I would vote for gold with the red body and black guard with the black body. I would assume black blocks if you do blocks? If so, I would say that would look good if using a black guard on a jazz bass.

Yeah, maybe white on maple with gold though

Black n black sounds good

so does gold and red

If i do blocks, black on the black

Light on the red

Our school colors, which is where i will mainly be playing bass, are red silver and white...

Never seen white blocks with the gold but might work.....if you're using the stickers on the neck, you can always peel it off if it doesn't look good to you....[hiding]

True, i saw it in a shop used, make neck, white blocks, cream body, black guard...

Only $2100 used ^^

jk it was real expensive, and the thing was pretty beat up.

It's all good....it's the personal touches that can make the biggest difference to the owner. I say do it...you can always change it if it doesn't look good to you as they are, relatively, inexpensive changes to make compared to pickup and tuner upgrades.

Back to my original problem
Red or black body?
Thoughts on white or gold pickup covers?

Obviously this is my preference but I would pick a black body with a maple neck if I could only have one of the bases. At one point, I had both and, ironically, I kept the red with maple only because it was the only p-bass I had while I had 3 other jazz basses..

I've always used and continue to use black pickup covers. I've flirted with cream or aged white previously but could never get used to it since the light colors were too stark on black for me as I was going for a dark theme with the black body and black/white/black pickguard and the maple neck. That's one thing I don't ever consider changing is the pickup covers. If it were a guitar, then all bets are off and I would use different pickup covers....but not on my basses.

These are just my preferences for what it's worth. For every person you ask, you'll probably get a different preference and answer. In the end, browse the web and look at various pics of what you're thinking about and see which really feels right to you.

heritage cherry sunburst is where it is at IMHO but that is MY choice (you personally need to get a color scheme that works for you not what someone else says is good), however having said that it is even better if it is on a quilted maple top and matching headstock ;). color of plastic items like pic guards is not really important my epi les paul had cream colored plastic parts and it looks ok to me but black also looks goo ad sell, as far as pups and hardware again personal preference whereas my lp has chrome ( which looks good), I also like the ruthenium (also called cosmo black or black chrome) with heritage cherry sunburst.

That quilted maple is beautiful!!

I like these. The MIA Jazz Deluxe came with a black pickguard. I change it to the white pearl and also removed the Fender pickups and set it up passive with Linday Fralin pickups and new pots.

The Spector is a 4 LX in Amber finish with rosewood fretboard and gold hardware. Most of them had black hardware but I think the gold looks much better.

yes it is, hard to get decent pics of it but it is one sweet looking bass, I lucked out and found it in a music store in OKC. it was new old stock and although the sr400QM is still available as far as I know you can only get it in brown and purple bursts but the quilted maple in them is just as impressive :D. I got it for a deal to $350.00 out the door with a hard shell case the bass alone retails for like 449.99 :D
