That's totally gorgeous. Won't you risk chipping and scuffing the lovely new finish by routing the body for the pups?

Cheers Bongo - I found myself 2nd guessing all my choices and wondering how it would come out. I'm really pleased :)

As for the pup routing - the uneducated me would have thought you should complete the routing before finishing. Just got to trust Martin's judgement and skills. I'm 100% sure it will be cool.

Always a question I could ask to find out how he will get it done.

My Sei is finally back from the finishers.

I know it's a double post but I wanted to add it here for those not following my build thread because I'm a happy camper with the way this is coming together.

Gold hardware and 2 Barts to go in and I get to have a play :hyper:

That Madrona has come alive... :D
ooooOOOOOoooooohhhhhhhh!!!!!!!

Shiny!!! :D

Cheers Guys. Those photos have got me drooling :help: I want it and I want it now...:hiding:

Think I may well pop up to London on Saturday for a cuppa and to have a decent look in the flesh. want to get some full length pics with the headstock. Man - life is great

James - I asked about an ETA and I was told to relax, put my feet up and it will be here before I know it :hyper: I think thats about as close as I'm going to get to a date at this point but that's cool :)

Mark - me like shiny things :D :D

I'll see what info I can gleam on the routing process when I get there, I'm curious as well - I'll report Saturday. Also try and get more info on the finishing process for you.

When I asked about the routing it was almost like I was being silly. It felt like they were thinking "Why, how else would you do it" :)

As for the woods it's bookmatched Madrona. I don't see many Madrona tops out there which pulled me towards it - plus out of all the tops we looked at the Madrona was the one that spoke to me the most. American Walnut Wings. Honduras Rosewood fingerboard. 7 piece Wenge and Maple neck.

My god - I've just read up on your project through the search. That's some wait, never going to complain about my 8-9 months while your in earshot...

Looks very cool though, hope it's worth the wait for you. Didn't go far enough back to find out the specs - what the deal there?

Well, as Kramer said on Seinfeld ..... "I'm out!"

I'll get more info and pics up as soon as I get some time with it ...... so far, it's just AMAZING :bassist:

That looks really great, Ed. Aside from all the beautiful wood and binding, I dig the headstock a lot (he needs to pick one and stick with it!) and the new truss rod setup- they often look a bit clumsy on FBBs, but the desing on yours looks great.

I don't see Matt ever settling on a HS design .... having met with him and better understanding his building philosophy, I can see why the HS's are always so different ...

But I sure do like mine ;)
