CWB 12 - The Dirty Dozen

Hey, if Warwick can be all about "The sound of wood", then why can't Clement be all about "The smell of wood"?

I was going to make a comment about "The feel of wood" or "The taste of wood", but I'm not sure it was worth risking Thor's Silver Hammer coming down upon my head.

:hiding:

:D

The Clement Cologne ad campaign could be something like...

One wiff and all she'll think about is "wood".

Too much?

LOL, these had me cracking up. Tom should def. get a new campaign going. "My wood feels amazing, sounds amazing, and even smells amazing." :D

yes, sorry to hear about your drummer too ... for us fans of Sonic Cherry, this is highly traumatic. :help:

new drummer sounds great, though, hope that works out. And remember - no pic, no drummer. ;)

Thanks. I think it's going to end up for the best. Drummer hopeful may have a link to a lead female guitarist too! We may be an "all girl" band yet, with an incredible drummer to boot. I'm just crossing my fingers at this point. Pics as soon as possible. :)

I was going to add something here, but I don't want Thor to rain down upon me with Mjolnir.

LOL, He's been pretty lenient with our CWB humor, but no point in pushing our luck. :D

Also, I'm gonna be out of town for a few days. It's out in the boonies and I'm only bringing essentials, so no laptop. (Yes, the Clement is coming with me, I can't bear the thought of leaving it...)

Ya'll have a fantasic weekend. :D

That's wild. The bass wouldn't be the same without the outfit.

I'm now going to stand back and watch the CWB goddesses fight over the boots.

Is anyone else getting a little Rocky Horror vibe?

I know what soundtrack I'll be listening to for the rest of the night. :D

Practice tonight got cancelled as our drummer is out of town visiting an old friend/bandmate of ours who is quite ill in hospital. Besides being an incredible guitar player he was a great bass player who was part of the early days of rock & roll, playing bass for Eddie Cochran, Jerry Lee Lewis, Hollywood Argyles and did a lot of studio work with the Beach Boys when they were first recording. Unfortunately a stint in SE Asia left him fighting some demons, sometimes he'd win, sometimes he didn't.

When I first met him he was playing guitar in a band I was asked to join on bass. We hit it off and he taught me a lot about playing bass. Not by showing me lines or theory (well some) but how to "feel" the groove, figure out what the song needs for bass and what to throw out. Thirty years and a lot of playing later, I feel I can finally say I've reached 10% of his ability.

Sorry about your friend, SB. Hope things take a turn for the better soon.:hmm:

Sorry to have been absent for awhile. I have been lurking and keeping tabs on all of you, just no time to post. It's been crazy, had a post-gig band meltdown which resutled in a break-up, and a search for a new drummer. Have an amazing female drummer I'm trying to recruit - cute, graduated music school, plays guitar also, did percussion in the Columbus Philharmonic Orchestra. A little out of my league to say the least, but she's itching to rock the drums (she's playing guitar in an acoustic group now) and very sweet. I'm hoping my pout will be magical, as I'm excited about the possibility of working with her as it would def. help me grow as a musician. Also have a few other projects/ possibilities in the works, so we'll see what pans out.

Got my Clement, it looks and sounds incredible. Can't put it down. I wake up in the middle of the night and play it unplugged. Was so tired yesterday, I was playing it with my eyes closed, half-asleep and still couldn't put it down. It feels so natural, is much lighter than my MM, and (this may sound strange) smells so good. The wood smell is just intoxicating. Feels like it was made just for me. (Oh, wait, it was...)

You know that feeling when you first fall in love and you can't even remember what your life was like before? It's like that, only better. :)

Drummer - So sorry about your dog, we just went through that with our Boxer, it was heartbreaking. Glad to see you around so much, though, and you've been staying busy musically, which is awesome.

Thor - I love ya to death, but you can be a little cryptic sometimes. What does "I have a secret. My day is coming soon" mean?

Tat - We're going to be coming your way for family vaca early June. :)

FM - I miss ya. Where ya been, girl, and what have ya been up to? (Hopefully, up to no good...) :)

Chick with bass pics soon.

lol @ outta your league drummer. You seem to be a bit of a natural at this 4 stringed guitar thingie, so maybe you're closer to her league than you think. :p

Congrats on the Clemet! Yay! :hyper:

I'm around...family drama...and my week off work that was actually around 2 months is finally over, so I'm acclimating to that...and family drama...ugh...but I'm here. :D

This is what love looks like... :D:bassist:

You have to see this Clement in real life, pics don't do it justice. The coloring in the cherry top is simply gorgeous...

This is going to sound strange...and I know you all aren't used to strange from me...lol...but, that bass, it matches you...lmao...kind of like it was born from a part of you (and I guess that makes Tom your bass's daddy...lmao...).:bassist:

I don't think you could go wrong with "the feel of wood." If I was a bass builder I think my slogan would be "Feel my wood." :p

I am glad you got to enjoy our almost spring like weather.

Cool
Crisp
Light jacket
No Sweat
No Humidity
(Cold Rain and Cloudy Skies ... I have to find the soundtrack)

My volunteer job finished, but they will lay more on me since I get stuff done. That's ok though.

I am loving the weather. Today was beautiful.

I had a wonderful compliment from one of my volunteers on a thank you note I wrote. I like to write well, but some occasions require extra effort on writing. You don't get many sincere compliments in life.

I had a great night at the Thursday Jam, and felt like I was in the pocket, on the One, but free to do what I wanted. Works for me.

My old guitar player gave me a compliment that makes my year, if not my life:

So, he got to hear what I have been giving him
(for years), from the back of the room and it blew him away.

Well, he never told me this before tonight. A lot of people tell you "Hey, you sounded great" and it's bar rhetoric, everyone sounds great at 12 midnight.

When a very skilled and accomplished player that I have supported since 1977 -sporadically- finally busted out a compliment, I have to cherish that one.

I have a secret. My day is coming soon.

My buddy sent me a zappos 20% off coupon, he can get then anytime to hook up to an email. I can hook CWB up on the side, but, we gotta have shoe pics upon arrival.

You know the drill.

Back sometime soon. :)

Except for the rain, I will admit that it was beautiful up there. The training was held at the Wylie Inn & Conference Center at Endicott College. Lovely campus - and just off the water. I would have just liked it better in say, June or July, when it was warmer. ;)

Congrats on finishing up this round of volunteerism. I did some of that, too. It's good for the soul, I think.

Writing well is a skill. I'm glad someone took the time to appreciate your efforts and to tell you so. Feedback is a gift that far too few people are willing to give.

Good for you on a great show, too! One of these days, I'm going to get up that way and take a listen. I've never been to RI. I need to fix that. ;)

A secret, eh? When your day gets here, you will have definitely earned it and I hope that it's everything you want it to be.

And since I can't wait any longer....Did I hear ZAPPOS AND 20% coupon????? Sign. Me. Up. Please?

Never never never apologize for being in love with your new bass. Ever. Just enjoy it and take lots of pictures and video and tell us about it so we can live vicariously through you. Please?

Sorry to hear about the implosion, but it sounds like you're getting things lined up to stay on-track with the band. The upside for us is a whole new set of pictures to [del]drool over[/del] review.

June????? Can't wait! When you have the dates pinned down, let me know and I'll make sure that I've got some time to hang out freed up.

Okay - so - on the way home from the airport, I stopped at office and ended up working until 4:30. Then I "dropped by" the music store on my way home to pick up a chord chart for the guitar, new strings, and some picks. (My teacher isn't letting up on my learning at least a little guitar.)

So....I went on my usual tour of the store - Straight to the bass room. Saw one of the regulars in there and we chatted for a while. The manager and my favorite assistant were working, and both came back to hang out with us for a little while. Nestor was shopping for a new bass for his church group. So - I was piddling around with the basses and stumbled onto a used Fender Zone sitting forlornly in the back of the used gear. She looked lonely - so I picked her up to play. Then plugged her into the Ampeg SVT. And promptly rattled the walls.

The amp stayed, but only because I have another plan for that. The bass came home. 2001. MIM. Cherryburst. Cheap. She's missing a knob, so if anyone knows where to get them, I'm looking for knobs like it came with.

As did the pedals. Yes. I bought pedals. Three of them. How can you pass up $85 pedals for $18 each?

Congrats!!! She's gorgeous!
Checked the Classified Accessory section for the knob. They're a dime a dozen there....or like $20 for six or something like that. :p

Very nice! What pedals did you pick up? I'm looking to pick up a flanger and an overdrive pedal.
