Hi- quick once-over: Drove over 700 miles home for christmas, got stuck for over 5 hours on I-10 because of snow, made it home in time to help with Christmas eve dinner (prime rib/turkey) and the in-laws. Thank you Jack Daniels. Got to see the kids, be there for Christmas morning, "us time" with Mrs. Vik, and back on the road early Monday morning. :( That's life, I guess. Could be worse! Work was screwy this week, so I didn't get a chance to log on.

Anyway, I did get a chance to review the end of "eight days," holy cow guys. Lot of material!

PA- You don't need to play all the book-notes in "Town" to get the feeling and pump it live. Slides, walks, and attitude! (IMHO)

Bassgen- you and I were on the same page. Pearls make girls happy (teardrop necklace/earring set, got a good deal on it).

Drummer- Jimmy is still in our hearts and prayers. Glad to see you're getting out, still hoping for good news.

Thor, Mrs. Hammer is truly a lucky girl. "He cooks?" your posts are the soundtrack to my evenings- feeling groovy indeed. Got the Ibanez tuned to open E...

FM, sorry the EB is only a Temp. The Jack Casady is a good fall-back though, I really liked playing it and want one a lot. One day, when I get my fingers out of all these delicious pies.

Tat- what a beautiful family.

And- Lareamond in love should build some beautiful basses.

Speaking of which, here's what Santa speared down the chimbley:

'51 P-neck, going on a project I'm working on here. Also a new orbital sander to replace my old one, but that would be a boring picture. Love how Allparts puts the old walnut truss plug in, BTW.

Just feeling blessed to be alive and getting to see family. Happy Everything, and happy first day of the year!

Any advice? I've gone through 4 packs of tooth picks, a bag of Jolly Ranchers, and 2 packs of gum since this morning. It really sucked not being able to reach over for a ciggie after love--*ducks Thor's paddle again* :hiding:

I've chewed a fair amount of gum, and had alot of peppermint candy canes during Christmas. Drink LOTS of water to help flush the nicotine out of your system faster too. Take a multivitamin for the hell of it..
A friend of mine gave me a self-hypnosis DVD after her dad quit smoking using the DVD (even though he was later diagnosed with cancer). I used it on the 23rd and haven't smoked since. Is that the reason why or not, Idk...but I haven't smoked and my main problem was huge withdrawals, not cravings..but I do get some cravings now, but can handle them.
I was a solid pack to a pack and a half (depending on how much I slept)smoker and never dreamed I'd be able to go cold turkey.
And yes, Tat, ...that friend, LOL.;)

Okay - let's see - where shall I start?

Drummer - Mike - It's good to see you back with us. I've worried. And, it sucks to not be able to do anything to fix it for you. Hope you and Jackie had a terrific NYE.

THand - Good to see you back, babe. Congrats on stopping smoking. I'm proud of you!

Lareamond - S - My dear, the two of you look very very happy together. I'm thrilled for you that it was a great NYE.

T-Bird - Happy New Year, Gorgeous! You so know how to make a girl's day. WP, legs, and instruments of divine [del]torture[/del] pleasure. What more could anyone ask for?

Lee - HNY, Sweetness. When you take a break from FM, keep in mind that you've got this waiting for you....

Thor - Wine red? I'm so with FM on this. Buy them. Surprise Mrs. Goddess with them. Who cares if she can walk in them. Walking is soooo overrated anyway. Better yet - if they were hot, buy them in every color! And if your boss will let you get away with a few weeks in Iceland because the phone works and he's not going to make you call it vacation, then go and take the Mrs. That would be SO awesome! If my boss would do that, I'd be in a different country every week and I'd probably couch-surf to afford it. LOL.

Chuck3 - good to see you coming on strong in Big 10 Inch. We missed you during the Cat O'Nine slowdown. Happy New Year!

Dave - we are SO coming for you, darlin'. 2012 is going to be your year!

PA and FM - we need to set up a girls weekend. I am the proud owner of a $500 gift card that I can use for airfare and hotel, so just tell me when and where, and give me enough time to make arrangements to call in a favor and borrow/rent sound. Alternatively - I have a weekend at the Castle Hotel in Orlando that I won playing poker and you guys could come here. We have Bass Central! And the Gulf of Mexico. And the Atlantic Ocean. And beaches. Lots and lots of beaches. We can finish making plans for Dave then, too. ;)

For anyone I've missed - Hope that your NYE was awesome and that 2012 is an amazingly exciting and prosperous year for you.

And to catch everyone up on my weekend...

Thursday night was dinner in with a movie and board games. Friday was SeaWorld. Despite living here for going on 8 years, I had never been, so it was pretty awesome. I had a really good time. Saturday was bass lesson (this week's lesson is Psycho Killer, Black Velvet and Five to One). I've also been told that until I buy an acoustic and learn some guitar, I shouldn't buy another bass. LOL. Like that would stop me if the WP-Factor was high enough. So, tomorrow John and I are going to scavenge for acoustics (yes, plural, because I want an acoustic bass, too) and who knows what else.

2012 is going to be an awesome year, here. I'm planning to push myself musically. My career is in a good place. And, I have the best friends on the planet and a new guy who has a lot of potential. I'm grateful for everything I've been blessed with in my life, and looking forward to sharing it with all my friends and family.

There is only one explanation for me not finding this site, this thread, and the hotties within, sooner... I am somehow defective (blame that on the fact that I also play guitar...that does it to a person).. but I am so going to make up for that...LOL

This is a wonderful post Tat.

I think that the three thumpketeers should meet in Pittsburgh. Jackie and I are good tour guides, I can play drums and if I tell my friends that I'm going to have a trio of hot women bassists visiting you'd be tripping over guitarists. lol

I have to share something else.

Jackie and I went to see the musical "Memphis" today at Heinz Hall today. (Good show and a great venue by the way.)

On the way out the door I almost tripped over a box. My ex left a box full of photos on the front porch. I glanced quickly at two or three on top and tossed it inside before we left for the show.

At the end of our divorce I recieved a bunch of incredibly rude, emails from her. I decided to take the higher ground and ignore them for the most part. When I did respond I stuck to facts and let her blow off steam. It seemed like the right tack and I don't regret it. I never speak badly of her to Jackie or anyone else. I hold no ill will toward her, and wish her all of the best in her future.

During dinner tonight Jackie and I were happy that Mary (my ex) had seemed to become more reasonable and thought that it was a kind gesture on her part. I sent a simple text to her cell. "Thank you."

When we got home I went through the photos and found a bunch of my family, of my nephew and of some old gigs that I did with my brother many years ago. Pretty cool stuff. I'm very happy to have them back and glad that she didn't destroy them. Many of the photos are irreplacable.

Then I came across the card. She sent a typed, unsigned note that was just as over the top as the emails had been. Oh well. I'm happy to have the pictures and I'm sorry that she hasn't gotten over our failed marriage.

I hope that some day she finds peace.

I just wanted to get that off of my chest.

Thanks! Pittsburgh would be awesome! You do have that amazing studio in your bassment just begging to be broken in....and there's Pittsburgh Guitars and Groovy! and Primanti Bros.....and now I'm talking myself into Pittsburgh, too. LOL. It doesn't take much, does it? And there's that thought of having multiple basses playing in one track.....I just think that might be sonic overload of the most basstastic kind.

Mike, you handled it better than most over the long run. Quite frankly, I'm not sure how you did it given the situation, but you did, and props to you for that. I'm glad you got the pictures back. Stay on the high road on the other part. What goes around comes around, IME. And you have Jackie now, and that's something pretty darned special.

Playing guitar in and of itself doesn't make you defective. My best friend John plays guitar and he found me, so you can't use that as an excuse. LOL.

Perhaps you were just so bored with the bouncer gig that you let too much slide by? :eyebrow: Yeah. I'm sure that's it. And exhaustion. Tossing drunk idiots out of bars is hard, tiring work. You were exhausted, too. If you'd have been my bouncer, I'd still be tending bar. ;)

But, I must say, exhaustion looks good on you, especially when it's blown up to 48 x 60 in a matte finish, mounted on my bedroom ceiling and highlighted by those fancy little art lights. Oh yes. In fact, it looks so good that I'm considering having exhaustion screen printed on a body pillow so I can snuggle up every night. It might make us both exhausted, but I don't think I'd regret that in the least. :p:D:p Actually, I'm sure I won't regret that in the least. :D:D:D:D:D

Thanks. :D Hey, is that the Thumpketeers knocking on your door? Oh, nevermind. We're not polite enough to knock...

You never know when, and you never know what toys/weapons we'll be bringing, but rest assured, we're coming for you....
It's tucked into my boot. I have special plans for Dave. :D
Thanks. Mainly I've been busy stalking several of the other members of this thread. And currently, FM, Tat, and I are planning a pilgrimage to find and [DEL]torture[/DEL] [DEL]stun[/DEL] [DEL]force into submission[/DEL] hang out with Dave.

...

Oooooooooh .... sounds the only thing that will be left after you Thumpketeers complete your assault on me will be just the spent, shriveled, dried up husk of my current self.

Just the anticipation of that is absolutely delicious! :D
