Damnation Audio Fan/Appreciation Thread

I need some help. I've been running the Curmudgeon and have been really happy with it. I was using 2 410 cabs, but I found a Berg NV412 and couldn't resist moving to a one cab solution, smaller than a single 810. The cab sounds amazing and is significantly more full range. It is more musical overall but.....

I got a reasonable amount of grind with plenty more on tap with the 810, but switching to the 412 there's less, it still sounds great but if I push the volume and gain up, feedback happens. The somewhat uncontrollable kind. Dialing it back I have less grind.

Suggestions? Noise gate, stack pedals? Reduce volume and deal with my clean sound being at a significantly higher volume? Deal with it and adapt?

Either go back to an 810 situation or yeah try a noise gate. The ISP deci-mate worked pretty well for me when I needed it.

Trying a gate would be the next next attempt at a solution imo. Or maybe try adjusting the horn on the Berg?? Does it have a horn? Not TOO familiar with those cabs.

After a year of hemming and hawing I picked up an MBD-2 from a member on here as I was tired of having the stereotypical Dingwall/Darkglass sound in my metal band - I'm glad I did. It's absolutely thunderous, the low end is phenomenal at any setting. It doesn't have the same "clank" as the B7K, but I imagine with some tweaking and EQing I could bring that back if I wanted. What a cool pedal.

The MBD can clank. EQ does help. But less to no depth and around 1 on the tone knob, it’ll clank. Not DG clank. DG gotta clank all it’s own. But the MBD clanks too. It’s the boom clank ;)

Right on...I don't get the EQ switch at all. Like why would anyone turn it off? That's my only complaint about the pedal. Would be awesome if that was a feedback switch or something useful.

Putting a Low Pass Filter somewhere between 3.5 and 5 kHz before or (better) after the MBD2 should work. If you switch the MBD2 on/off for particular songs rather than using it always-on, putting both the LPF and MBD2 in a loop might be a good idea.

So I ended up building a “home” or “second” board to use around the house. I think I’m gonna end up just using this as a primary board depending on where I’m going/what I’m doing. Both boards sound great, but man, the HXFX/rusty board sounds bad a$$. The color box is on there temp. I just wanted to mess with it. It’d been a while. There’s usually a fuzz there like the box of war brown acid. I’m always swapping fuzzes off and on boards.

Why sy1 into bass whammy? Never tired it like that… I always put pitch shifting into it for easy 1 finger fifth / octaves

Its just the way I happen to run. I always felt poly octaves could go later in the chain. Not late. But maybe not first. Not always. Honestly, I situate pedals to how I can fit them haha then I route them. If it sounds good, I’m happy! Seriously though, I do have an order in mind. But there are some pedal placements at certain times that are, well, good enough, in the grand scheme. So yeah. Normally I run octaves first to early. But I just happen to set this board up this way for now. I should try running it second though. See how it sounds.

I guess sy1 may be different to dirt…

like the old do you octave the dirt or dirt the octave?
( I just know octave up with blended dry into a turbo rat sounds massive!)

Simple question...when the feedback happens...where are YOU?
Facing the cabinets? How close are you? etc...

I'm sure you've thought of this but I just wanted to check.
