Boost trim fixed to 75% is roughly what my ears are telling me, when comparing my MBD-1s.
The taper on the gain pot I think makes a difference in how they're both reacting, for me.

I know it's splitting hairs, and you could probably line up multiple MBDs, play'em live, and not hear a difference.
But, to me, it's like the phenomena I see with people and Muffs from different Eras.

Except I'd much rather have an MBD-1.

I know I'm continuing the bludgeoning of an equestrian creature past the point of termination,
But one notable difference I hear in the yellow script, is that a very hot bass, specifically my L-2000, actually distorts the clean channel.
The white script, and MBD2, don't exhibit this.

I realized today that the sole reason all of my bass tracks sound as good as they do is the bloop. I seriously cannot underestimate how useful this pedal is, and now it has solidified its place on my board for life.

Two of the bass tracks were recorded after my initial run of recordings and I didn't use the bloop on them. They sounded thin and anemic because I use an always on fuzz & tried to EQ in the lows post-distortion.
The tracks with the bloop? Gigantic. Monstrous. Explosive bass fuzz tones. The energy that the clean low end adds to a track is not to be understated

If you record, you’ll definitely notice the difference. I wasn’t quite hearing everything it did with just my ears, which is why I took off my board to begin with. when I heard the recordings side by side, it was noticeable that the tracks with the bloop were way fuller sounding

Took the curmudgeon of my live board, but replaced it with a rat+bloop, so still full on damnation fanboy’ing.

The bloop is impossible to demo. You have to hear it in the mix with the bloop and then without it. It's the only way to hear/feel the difference.

Just bought a curmudgeon 2 off the site, thanks Jeff for heavily discounting them

how do you guys think it compares to muffs? I’ve been using tone bypassed muffs a lot lately because they’re hi gain and relatively full frequency. I’m expecting to get close to the pissed jeans tone a bit with this one

PS: In the interest of Bloop mod ideas, I’m super interested in an onboard HPF. A lot of the time I’ll have too much low end in my signal hitting the muff and then it over saturates and loses its crunch

Mine got here too. In the first few minutes of demoing it’s clear How good this distortion is. Way better than a tone bypassed big muff but in the same full frequency territory. It doesn’t oversaturate and compress like some high gain pedals are prone to, and you can get a really aggressive tone even with just finger style playing. I’m on a 76 p bass with really old strings right now, so I’m excited for when I restring the aluminum neck
