I haven't measured the output change but I'm fairly confident that the output doesn't go from unity to +30dB. It gets noticeably louder at bedroom/studio volume (I haven't used it in a full band live setting) but the jump isn't wild. The boost is pre clipping and the clipping naturally provides compression/limiting.

This is my experience at band levels. You might hear/feel a little push in actual volume if you pile on the boost, but it's more about the character and amount of saturation. Naturally, it also impacts the note 'envelope' a good bit due to the compression you mentioned.

If the Drive control is set such that the pedal is not making distortion and then you slam the boost to make the pedal distort, you will likely experience a change in volume on that channel because you were not previously reaching the clipping threshold. I personally consider this kind of an outlier configuration since most people want some amount of drive when they turn on their drive pedal. But I do see people using the pedal with the Drive control seemingly almost off so anything goes.

The intent of the Boost circuit is to make the pedal distort more. It is not intended to add volume.

Not sure if it's with any European dealers but I bit the bullet and paid import tax to get it. Not everyone's situation is the same of course, I'm just impatient

I have recently bought several Broughton pedals..and the import duties make the pedals from the US very expensive...

Yeah import tax is a pain, I rarely order outside the EU because of it but it was worth it in this case.

Exactly. I bit the bullet with Broughton pedals because there are no international dealers...but would like to avoid it with DA pedals since there are official international dealers in the EU...

Yeah it's outside the EU so a completely different market regardless.

If you are running the MBD into an amp or preamp that will sag and compress, you likely won’t notice a jump in volume when you engage the boost, regardless of how much boost you use. That’s how it is for me with the Origin Super Vintage.

I probably tend towards mild settings. It’s certainly capable of that. If I can stop being lazy I’ll try to record an idea or two.
