I don't understand this. If you don't want to manipulate the affected spectrum of frequencies, you don't have to turn this pot. But it adds quite a bit of versatility and shaping to the drive so it's a useful feature to keep, especially since you aren't suggesting any additions that would necessitate removing it.

Depth knob is excellent for getting fat distortion with enhanced bass. I think it’s MBD’s forte.

I rarely use the depth knob. But I totally get what you mean. Between that and the blend and how it interacts with the circuit are really what make the MBD what it is. The drives flavor is another. But I've played plenty of dirt pedals I loved the flavor to. But they usually didn't stick around due to either low end or articulation loss.

I could take or leave Depth, though I get how it's a necessity for many users. I love the pedal for the clean blend, especially the MBD3's. The flavor of grit is fine but generally I prefer something softer. But it's good enough, as I've heard.

Any movement on the idea for a vintage-voiced MBD? I know there was chatter a year ago or so for an MBD as it might've been in the 70s.

I speak strictly for myself, and having experience with all three, this is the way I would distill the features I use most into one, small footprint MBD.

I'm using the MBD2 and find the depth control a very useful tool. A little goes a long way as they say. Used in conjunction with the clean blend and frequency switch, (imo) there is a lot of versatility in this box. It truly is the star of my PB.

The boost control is your external control for the preamp gain FWIW. We just made that circuit a bit more powerful and made it switchable.

Yes, got it.
I understand it's function and usefulness.
Instead of the external switch on the 2, it's a variable control with a foot switch.

I'm well aware of that.

I've just copied your MBD-2 settings with my set up and it sounds really good. Sounds beefy always on tone.

Glad you like it. It is in fact my always on setting. Love how at the flick of a switch it will go from there to crunchy wicked. Such a useful wrench in the tool box imo.

My 1 never left but I got a green muff with mids recently thinking I’d try and compare and nope… muff with mids could get raspy but the mbd1 just had it beat with the ultra low clear articulate grind that was just more useful in all my bands songs

Question on the MBD... for the blend. Just trying to understand it:
1) On a traditional blend knob, you turn it one way and it's all clean signal and the other extreme and it's all effected signal. I get the sense that it's not like this, right?
2) So it seems that when you turn the blend knob up (clockwise), does that add more of the blend to the circuit? But the effected signal is always constant, it's just how much clean is parallel blended in?

Its #2. On our products the Blend/Clean control is a parallel 'channel' that you can turn up independent of what is happening with the rest of the controls on the pedal. This is primarily because the blend is the last control we are looking at to put the final touch on a drive tone. We want you to be able to dial in the distortion how you want it without the blend and then you can dial up as much blend as you like to balance the sound, fill out the full frequency response, etc...

We don't want a blend control that turns changes the volume of your drive when you move it or that requires lots of tweaking between controls. The blend works for you. You don't have to work around it. Hope that helps!

I have a small sound/big sound mini clone on order (also a fet-based drive), but this will be hard to beat.
