Darkglass Microtubes 900 Class D Amp

It has been a while since I have looked into these amps, but I remember there was several places that I could purchase them if I desired to.

A quick google search came up with a Parts-Express link:

like I said, lower price modules come up, but B&O doesnt sell to general polulation. When the larger ones come up, they're usually sans powersupply. And Ive never seen those for sale at quantity. Just a few units at most.
The ASP suffix on a module denotes factory PSU. The linked model has DC out to power additional units, however I dont believe you can bridge those together.
If you find a link to a 500 or largee unit at quantity, I would be interested.

Doug popped in and said that it wouldn't be announced yet, like in a month or two. I think the amps we see are prototypes and the first manufacturing run isn't scheduled yet.
I would think they would go ahead and let the price be known. We all know they know what they are going to charge. It would be nice to know if it will carry the same high price as their pedals or if it will be close to the mesa subway pricing.

It is possible they don't know for certain yet. If they are prototypes, there are things which will change before they are done, which means both timing and price could change. Yes, it would be nice, but personally I can wait.

Here is what Doug actually said (rather than me paraphrasing)

I can't comment on price or delivery date yet. Full specs and price should come in couple of months when we have a clearer idea of the itinerary.

I guess the d800 is now the standard bearer?
For me it is. I have done a ton of research on the D class stuff lately and I am most impressed with it by a wide margin. Now, this is the only competitor. I like their pedals and use their onboard preamp now. So, price and quality video samples are the only sticking points for me now. The stuff I have heard I like. Just need more and the price before I decide. I don't mind waiting. Just would like more info.

I don't mind waiting, but a ballpark would be nice. Price is the only hang up for me. I would like some video samples (which I am surprised they did not have this day and age), but I trust their quality. Having said that, if it is priced competitively I am still in. If it is not, I will move on and stick with my plan to buy Mesa. In the end, it will only be one sale missed for them, but I do know there is alot people asking the same price question I have.

If the price is right I will almost certainly be buying one. This is exactly what I was hoping for.

Its the only new amp on the horizon that even remotely interests me.

I sold my B3K as the VMT is more my style and I thought I could get by with just one. Huge mistake.

The Tech 21 dUg was interesting until I saw the price. Hopefully Darkglass won't make that mistake

I'll clue you both in, the "ballpark estimate" price that I got is *very*, *very* reasonable...its not as much as alot of people think even at the high end of this estimate!!;)

It doesn't even come close to the price of the Dug amp, even at the lowest to highest numbers that *I got*(there wasn't much of a difference between high-low)... its very close to the price of a new( and very popular) class D amp!;)

I noticed *some* of the price speculation's were based off the pedal prices and therefore pricey..... Now I'm not at liberty to give you this estimate, but I think everyone will be pleased as its competitively priced at both ends, so I think it'll be a true bargain!!

Doug will probably have a final price when they actually go into production! Those NAMM ones are just demo models...im hoping for March or April at this point:)

One feature I'd love to see is the ability to power just the preamp section via a 9v outlet. This way we could slap the head on top of the in-ear emitter on our ampless gigs ;)

Not sure how troublesome this would be to implement - if it's too expensive it wouldn't be worth it as the majority of users would never use it that way.

Why not just power it the regular way? Use the preamp output and you've got the same thing...

Why does that require a power strip (I don't see how it "requires" one) but using a 9v adapter doesn't? Maybe I'm not understanding what you want to do.

9v doesn't because one of those would power the whole board (wireless, in-ear, compressor...)

I think what many people don't realize is the 2 pedals are essentially the same circuit with some different frequency filtering. Therefore having both in a single box is probably much less than twice the work and components.

sounds good for metal

To answer that running joke here "What is the best amp for metal??" LOL!!

I bet it'll be versatile enough for any style! I plan on using it for my pop group the same way I used the B7K, gain off with attack/grunt on and blend up high(I'm assuming on amp it'd be the tone and blend knobs up), id get close to that cranked amp vibe/character! For heavier stuff I'd probably dial in more drive!?

And then again the clean side *does* have that "gain" knob, I'm assuming you can get some grit in the clean channel as well!

I'll admit that I'm no expert on the technical side of amps/pedals, but I do remember reading that about both the VMT/B#K circuits!! I think your right on this with price speculation, but some peoples estimates just got plain silly that weren't based on the pedals at all!!
