Darkglass Microtubes 900 Class D Amp

any updates production @Darkglass ?

Hey man, thanks for the interest!

Most parts ordered! There was a typhoon in Taiwan that affected one of our switch manufacturer's factories but after a ton of phone calls I think it won't delay us.

Tomorrow two of my guys are visiting the metal shops that will make different parts of the chassis tomorrow to make sure everything is being done properly and on schedule.

If everything goes well we'd be starting on mid-late August with the first units scheduled to ship within two weeks from the initial date, we've planned and prepared as well as humanly possible, now let's hope everything goes accordingly!

Regards,
Doug.

@Darkglass would I be able to run the amp without a cab? I.E. taking a direct out to record at home without having a cab plugged in to keep the neighbours happy. Still getting one regardless but it would be nice to know :)

Yeah for sure! You can run it cab-less without any issues.

I've been waiting on this release ever since the announcement. Looking forward to seeing what the final product looks like, the finalized specs, etc. Been doing a Google search every so often hoping to see that information :)

Thanks! I know we are behind schedule but we ran into several upgrades to the version we showed at NAMM that we thought were worth the extra sweat and and time to implement. I think the extra features will be worth the extra wait.

The darkglass instagram seems to be the most "up to date" source of info on the amps

Yeah, several teasers are posted in the Darkglass and my personal accounts! It's a cool way to sort of announce unofficially for those who care enough to follow us :).

@Darkglass I received an email from the supplier I'm buying from in Australia and they mentioned you've upped the wattage. True? What will the Microtubes 700 really be? 900w.......1000w :hyper:

Can't confirm nor deny... But 912W RMS might have been measured a few weeks back ;).

You mean I won't be getting mine with candles on top for my birthday?
Seriously though, I quite unexpectedly started booking gigs with a new band after our 3rd rehearsal only and we're eagerly awaiting the nice and hairy tone I promised. First show in 5 weeks - gonna be tight but you can do it!

I must admit this thread has me thinking. I was all set to pick up a tried and true used Class D piece like a TH 500 or RH450 which are easily available on the used market and add Vintage Ultra pedal. But you start looking at the cost of a pedal, board, pedal power, and the used amp. And this amp would do both jobs perhaps even better. I could bring it to a DI only gig as a pre-amp or used it to power a cab in a rig and I still have a great preamp DI out.
