Darkglass Microtubes 900 Class D Amp

I don't think it has been answered yet... but, Can you mount it in a rack? does it come with rack ears ?

Not but we are working on a rack mounting kit. It may take a bit as we don't want to compromise the look of the amp while being on a rack case, but we are making good progress :).

We are setting up to start production soon.
Beyond exciting times for sure!

Put a headphone out, an aux in and a tuner out into this head and I'll be picking one up as well. Nothing better than being able to practice with your gigging amp and to tune in silence while on stage.

Id recommend looking into the new Allen and Heath Zed mixer. It will accept the DI in, headphone and an aux Jack. It also functions as a USB interface to your computer or I pad. You can add monitors and have a nice little studio set up for practicing.

Well it would need a tuner mute button on the front panel as well. I just like to have it all in one package. I don't really use effects and thus, my tuner is not on my pedal board, but on the back of most amps.
I understand I think, but the tuner is still plugged into the amp with a cable, and still needs a power supply, right? So the only thing I see is a more complex amp for no added benefit? It may just be me, but I am trying to understand the benefit. I have an amp too with a tuner out on the back, but I don't get what it is for, other than possibly if I have a rack tuner?

I think a tuner built into the amp would be great, coupled with a mute button. TC Electronics have an amp like that.

I don't use effects and I don't want any pedals on the floor. Right now I am using the Line 6 Relay G75 wireless system built in tuner. The receiver sits on top of my amp, so basically that setup is ideal for me...only that built in tuner sucks. It would be nice to have a good one built right into the amp.

I see your point. On the amps I have used with a tuner out I had a cable running to a pedal tuner on the floor as a non pedal tuner would have just fallen off. And on the amps I used without a tuner out, I had a cable running to the amp. No actual difference other than the floor tuner in-line made it easy to mute the signal to the amp without having to take steps back to mute the amp. Now if some still used a hand held tuner, I guess it would be an advantage having a tuner out, as one would not have to unplug. To me it is far easier having the floor tuner.

I'm still old school tuner wise as my old Boss tuner is still working great and thus I've never needed to replace it. It's battery powered and does a fine job. It's also got a piece of velcro on the back and thus sticks nicely to my fury cabs. lol

A little off topic - tuners, years ago I use to go through a tuner out, mute the amp. I've done a ton of gig using a sonic research turbo tuner, strobe tuner with true bypass. you set it up where you are standing and don't need access to the amp if it's wedged into a corner. You can also use it as a mute between songs or if switching instruments. I also use a TC clip on tuner, first it is great at home if you are at home playing unplugged, changing strings or if you are on a gig and want to tune your bass before putting it on the stage where unpacking on stage is to cramped. The clip on tuner can also be used while you're playing, if your tuning key knocks against something on stage or you just think you are out of tune you look for the right spot in the song where you can hit that open string and check for tune. If you have a few bars of rest you can mute and use the one on the floor.

Sorry maybe a bit to thoughtful for this conversation but the idea of a tuner out on an amp these days just doesn't seem convenient, unless you are a kid with a combo amp and want to tune, use headphones and jam to tunes in one cheap box. But that isn't what this amp seems to be about.

Use whatever works for you. I understand what you're saying and also have a clip on tuner. However this has worked for me for years and thus, it's still my go to tuner for most gigs.

A tuner out doesn't have to be used with a tuner, does it? Let's say we want to send a carbon copy of the input signal somewhere else (possibly to a 2nd amp)...

A little bird told me the Microtubes 700 might now be called Microtubes 900

I don't get the big problem with tuning. How often do you guys really tune? On a 4 hour gig I tune before we start. I check tuning on breaks. My bass usually stays perfectly in tune all night. I also stretch the strings a bit at the beginning of the night, if it's cold I rub the strings a bit before tuning too. Other than outdoor gigs I just don't tune that much. A complete non issue to me. If it were built into the amp (I think it should be on all modern amps) that would be a bonus. But really, are you banging the tuners, playing with non- broken strings or what? This is not a troll post I genuinely don't have the need to tune all the time.

Depends on the bass, strings, style, environment. I've found the Chromes in my Nash P will go out of tune from day to day with the weather and temperature, while the rounds on my Spector Euro 5lx AW (not sure what type; bought it used and haven't changed) seem silly stable. I'm guessing aggressive slappers and pickers might need more tunings per night.

Is it a real 900 watts or a hyped 900 watts.. Did they change to a new and more powerful power amp module?
