I’m a newbie to the world of Dingwall basses. I believe this was mentioned some time ago, but do any of you that own the NG-2s/Combustions find the new bridges to have very sharp corners on the saddles? I just can’t get along with them. The problem is that the bass(NG-2) sounds so fantastic that I’m willing to work with it.

What do you guys make of the aftermarket Payson bridge?

They Payson bridge has the same (or at least very similar) saddles, so I don't think it will solve your issue. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

Yes, I do.

Patient: "Doctor, it hurts when I do this."
Doctor: "Don't do this."

That is my solution. :-)

If I happen to have some spare ones around, I would file the corners a little.

I've never had that problem. But I play finger style. Do you play with a pick?

I played a few of the new 2018 batch and didn't even notice. I don't play that close to the bridge for it to be a factor for me. My '16 NG-2 has the older style bridges and is fine unless you like super low action ( I like medium-low, I guess :) ).

Sounds Like we're on a similar path-

I've got two ABZ 5/3's, an ABZ 6/3, and a D-Bird Standard on order. I inquired about an SJ5/3, so that could be in the distant future.

The only difference is I'm trying to maintain a "connection" to parallel fret basses. I just got an FBass BN5 and I ordered a second BN5. I thought, very briefly, about ordering a fretless Dingwall, but that seems like a lot of work, a lot of money, and a LOT longer wait, so I'm going to order an FBass BNF or AC fretless. These FBasses are INCREDIBLE! Easily one of the best basses I've ever owned! I can't say enough good things about it. I can't wait for my second one to arrive! I'm not getting rid of these, they're way too good...:thumbsup::bassist:

I can definitely see we’re you’re coming from. If you pick and rest on the bridge, they can get you. I’ve seen the way you pick and you’d definitely need an updated tetanus shot. :)

A funny thing happened today.

It’s the nicest NG I’ve played yet and the price couldn’t be beat.

It even has a beautiful little chunk of flame and Birdseye right by the neck pocket with a hit of flame along the back of the neck.

I’m sure it’s just my perception but this neck even feels thinner then the last one I had.

It’s was pretty impulsive but I actually have designs on getting the 3rd pick up and keeping it.
Ha We shall see

That sounds like a great solution, I will try this tonight.
I think the first generation bridges were more my speed, but no matter. Like I said the bass sounds so amazing it’s definitely worth doing a little tweaking to it to make it completely comfortable for my particular needs.

I play mostly with a pick and have not noticed this or had a problem. But everyone plays a bit different. I did have to adjust my playing style a bit by going up the neck especially on the D and G strings to give less bright/trebly.

Ducati White, yes. It is a Matte Pearl finish. One of the classiest finishes IMO and our largest seller so I assume it may be the most sought after NG2/NG3 color at Dingwall.
