Someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure the pickups are split coil side to side so you won't be able to do that.

Correct.
The Dingwall pickups have one half of the pickup cover the low strings and the other half cover the right.
If they have 4-conductor wiring, you could do series/parallel switching, but not coil tapping.
(I know this because I had a pickup fail on my first Dingwall, back in 2003. With the neck pickup soloed, the B, E, and A strings were silent, and the D and G were the only ones audible. Dingwall, of course, overnighted me a new pickup at no cost, and threw in a set of strings for my trouble...)

I'm thinking that once I get back to the US, I'm going to rewire my SPj5 with a regular tone control, maybe one with a centre detent like the Tone Fusion pot has, only because I really like the tactile point to work from.
I'm also thinking I want to have the Glockenlang taken out of my ABZ6. It's a two-band pre, but I never use it. I mean, I took the battery out last summer when I moved to the UK, but it had been dead for months before that. Since I'd be losing the bass pot, I'm trying to decide what to have put in its place. It's a two pickup bass, and I rewired the neck pickup to series... maybe a series/parallel switch for the neck PU? I do remember preferring both-pickups-series sounding a bit nicer when the neck PU was wired parallel.

It's done. Pulled the trigger. The ABHS will be making its way to me shortly.
Please make some sound clips for us when you get it in! That bass is gorgeous.
For sure! Unless I can't put it down long enough to hook up my recording gear, haha.

My new split p tone just arrived and I'm going to install later today with a friend, but I decided to take a peek under the control plate and found this:
The black and green wire seem to be soldered together.
Does that mean that my bridge pickup came hardwire in series and that the neck one is wired in parallel? Is that the standard way they come from the factory?

Well, yours came from the shop that way (judging by the nice heat-shrink job). My 2013 SJ5 came with both in parallel. I wired them both in series and like it better that way...
That's standard wiring for a two pickup ABZ, which I've had two of. A parallel bridge pickup would be pretty thin sounding, IMO, but then again I've never played an SJ with Fatty's.

With this down-tuned bass soon to be with a happy owner, he may could pull a car out of a ditch with just the low A string.
I can’t tell from the picture which pickup has been wired in series. But for sure, one of the pickups was changed to series. You’ll just have to check where those wires go.
The split P pickup will be wired in series.
If it is the bridge pick up, that’s probably where you would have ended up anyway.

Yup, already installed the pickup and the bridge was in series.
The P-tone sounds huge! Lots of growl, which I like. I still have to dial in the right pup-height because it is overpowering the Super Fatty a little bit when blended together. I'll post soundclips/videos once I have a real pick guard made for the bass

So to follow up on the truss rod issue I was having with my older Combustion I had bought 2nd hand last year, turns out it was just the screw cap needed replacing and the part Dingwall sent to me did just the trick. Couldn't be happier! 
I have the P pickup set much lower than it was from the shop on my SJ/P. It is a very growly beast.
I purchased the bass of my dreams on June 23, 2018 from @bebass at ShoMeMusic. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE my Dingwall NG3! As so many have stated, I have never heard a low B that sounds so full, clear, articulate, round and just about any other adjective that means awesome! I heard my first Dingwall and actually played on it at NAMM in January 2018. I fell in love. I never believed I would own one. Thank you so much, @bebass, and thank you to my beautiful wife for letting me spend more than I ever thought I would on a bass! I highly recommend ShoMeMusic to anyone wanting to purchase a Dingwall bass or high end cabs. He is great to work with, and he's just a great guy! Since I'm pretty new to this thread, I haven't read many pages yet. Do y'all (yes, I'm a Texan) give out numbers like some of the other clubs? If so, I wanna join the ranks.
