Hah, I am experiencing some serious bureaucratic BS here: the new body for my bass is at a FedEx location about 15 minutes from my house. It has been cleared by customs and everything and is just waiting for next Wednesday, when it's supposed to be delivered. However, I am not at home then. So I thought: let's call FedEx, see if I can pick it up myself, it's very close, saves them a detour past my house and everybody's happy, right? Well, no. I'm not allowed to pick the body up before Wednesday "because delivery or pickup before the date of delivery would make it a Priority package, and it's an Economy package and that's cheaper so you'll have to wait, so sorry". So I was like: me saving you guys money, picking up that thing myself would make the shipment móre expensive? Whut? Weird. So I postponed the delivery to Thursday. Stinks.
The story gets worse! So I checked the tracking yesterday morning and it said "in transit" from the FedEx location, which meant it wasn't going to be delivered yesterday. But in transit to where? Tracking this morning didn't say "out for delivery", but instead it said "in transit". Again. But now not in Holland, but in bloody Paris! So I called FedEx and they told me that some...person in Memphis, TN forgot to put it through customs and they only found that out at the last minute before it was supposed to be out for delivery here. So the body was at 15 minutes from my house and now it's flying back to Memphis, only to be put through customs and then going back again. Will probably take another week or so. Stupid FedEx.

That sounds painful. I guess at least it’s not a full bass bouncing around the globe. Idiots

Uhhmm....so I just bought this. It was listed on Reverb for about an hour. I have no impulse control when it comes to Dingwall basses.

So you’ve become an NG collector
Only NGs and Ken Smiths now. You might call it an infatuation. I now own:

NG2 FretTrax (black)
NG3 5 string (black)
Ken Smith Black Tiger Elite 6 string (2013)
Ken Smith BSR 5 string (2018)
and on order...the NG3 6 string (Ducati white)

My main dilemma is now - choosing which bass to bring to the gig.

Yes. That can become a problem.

If you decide the NG3 6 isn’t up your alley and wanna trade for my 5 let me know..... ;).

So I decided to try out the FD3 pickups in the Super J5xxx. I like 'em.
I don't see myself spending a lot of time swapping pickups around, and I'm happy enough with these originals.
Anybody want to buy a set of three FDV's and/or a P-Tone for a Super J 5-string?
Here's some random sloppy noodling on the SJ5, running through various tone control settings, so you can hear its versatility and feel its punch:

The other thing I learned from this exercise is that I confirmed my earlier assertion that there is no rational reason to part with a Super J5. I might be convinced for five figures. Maybe...
