I wouldn't think a paint job would cost that much, then again I've not had it done, or do you mean a complete go over of everything?

I forget exactly which facility I asked, but a couple of years ago I got a quote of somewhere around 400-450. I didn't follow through.

Wouldn't it be handy if switching to passive mode also disconnected the batteries, it's a pain having to unplug every time i set the bass down for a break, weather gigging, or practicing, not to mention wear n tear on the jack !
I realize I could add a switch, but I really don't want to be drilling holes in my fairly new Dingwall !

You would cause a very audible pop if you disconnected the battery. That's why no factory bass comes with a true disconnect switch for active preamps.

Hey guys, looking for an idea on value. I live in Canada and I have the opportunity to purchase a combustion for $900 cdn (680usd) the catch is it has a chunk of finish missing. Is this still a good deal? Just want to make sure I won’t lose my shirt when it’s time to sell it down the road.

Just an FYI. I went and took a look at this bass last night on my way to rehearsal. For $900 I think it’s a good value. Neck is nice and flat. Truss rod works. Sounds great and plays nice.
It is road worn. The bang on the bottom is real but purely cosmetic and there is much more “experience” on the bass. The picture actually makes it look worse then it is. Nothing as bad as that.

My biggest pet peeve with it is that you can feel on the neck the bass was rested agains a cab or something many many times but it’s not significant in any way. Just a slight “texture” that could be sanded out easily enough imo.
All in all. I’ve never been into road worn but if I could land it for $750-$800 I’d definitely take it. I only say that for myself as I have absolutely ZERO need for it. For someone looking to try one I’d say it’s a great way to get your hands on it.

I’d be happy to pick it up for you or anyone else interested.......

$680 in the US, shipped, would be a great price to get in the game.

If it was a four string I’d be thinking it over. Perfect to take a crack at refinishing and fabricating a custom pick guard. Or filling the empty route and adding a ramp.

These are the perfect Dingwalls for mods, and the price is the lowest on a used Combustion I’ve seen.

At $500 I’d be all over it.

I have to unplug mine when setting them down anyway as the jack is on the end (no stands for me at gigs or practice)

Also, not sure if this has been brought up yet, but the one active bass I have took a huge leap into century 21. Lithium ion with micro usb charging. Also came with a 9v adaptor and spare lithium ion. Hope to see this standardized in the industry.

Can you recharge a flat lion as fast as you can change a 9v? I don’t think you can

But can you recharge a 9v as many times as a lithium ion? I just run an extra plug off my power strip and plug it in before the show starts or at set breaks. No more worrying about whether I have a spare 9v in the gig bag
