The owner specified it’s currently set to drop to A.Oh, it's just a Hipshot Xtender. That makes sense. How do you know the owner has it set to drop one step and that it is A though?

I agree, to my ears Combustion will be a bit brighter. I cant wait to get my D-Bird Standard.

OK. Somewhat off topic but also on-topic in that I will have a Dingwall to use with this band sometimes this summer.
Monday I was cruising the local musician’s network and saw an ad for a bass player. For an ELVIS Tribute Band. I don’t know exactly why, as this is not exactly my rocker style, but probably due to the last band I was in folded this past fall and I was itching to play. So about 4:30 I called the guy and he said well, we are practicing tonight at 6:30, come on out. It is an hour from me so I had to hustle to get my equipment loaded etc and showed up at their rehearsal. I didn’t know what to expect but reserved my opinion until I met the fellows. Turns out most of them had recording credits and were extremely talented. Now, here is the kicker; I have never actually played Elvis music except maybe Jailhouse Rock 30 years ago, so I didnt know ANY of the songs. But faked my way through the audition. I just found out they want me to join! “Thank you very much”

I am not a particular Elvis fan but once was part of an Elvis Tribute as well. It was fun. I have to admit, while the music wasn't too difficult, remembering 40-ish tunes with a lot of blues and blues-like forms is more difficult than it seems as a lot of the songs start sounding the same.
Shoutout to @BurningSkies and others here who inspired me to walk the Dingwall, Greenboy, Jule path. I completed my new pair of fEARful 15/6/1's over the weekend and had them at band practice last night.

I'm always jealous of you guys who can build stuff. I was a complete dolt in shop class in high school. I would have been better off cooking with the girls in home economics.
It's good that I chose professions that mainly involve computers (that I just use and totally don't have to build). That's why what Sheldon does is to me so unique and amazing. He is an engineer and an artisan. Alas, I am only the former.
We all have different gifts. Crafting amazing instruments is not one of mine, either. I also have a ton or two of appreciation for what Sheldon is capable of. He has lifted the bar very, very high since he began amazing players with his instruments years ago. Keep it up, brother!

Yes. I sold my 5-string NG last year and am waiting on two Dingwalls I have ordered for myself. As tempting as it is, I won't take one from the store to play out (drop it or scratch it and I would have to pay for it) so I took my Peavey USA Cirrus. As soon as I get my Dingwalls I will use them as my main basses. Probably will never sell that Cirrus though since I bought it the year that Peavey came out with their USA Cirrus and it truly is an amazing instrument.That reads like you took a non Dingwall Bass to the audition?
I'm quite similar - I'm a software engineer with low confidence in my ability to create physical things. These cabs are the biggest project I've taken on myself. Agreed on Sheldon and the fine folks at Dingwall though - their creations are mindboggling!

My 6 string Jazzwall is back from Mo's Shop. Mo installed Nordstrand Jazz pickups in OEM covers, and replaced the banjo fret with bass frets. I was thinking about having him install a Nordstrand 3b preamp, but decided to keep this bass passive. As always, his work is exemplary.
