+2!!!+1 on the nice feel & tone of the reduced core Paysons.![]()
+2!!!
If you want warm, though, nickels will probably be what you want instead of RCs. RCs were a good middle ground for me on the NG3. I can't get them to sound as warm as the nickels, though.
I wish I had a button that would switch between them. I guess I just need another NG3 with the other set of strings on it. I might as well put the 3x switch on that one while I'm at it. And world peace, I'll have that too.

Ya, yer right. I shoulda been more clearerer: regular nickels vs RC nickels. The reduced core set is nickel.![]()
I have a set of Elixir super light nickels coming in today for the SJ/P. Right now it is strung with DR Dragon Skins 45-105, but I murdered those strings in under a week even though they're coatedDon’t know if I mentioned this, but I put some GHS Boomers 90-30 on my Super P 4. Talk about super light fun. The action is effortless, slapping is super fun, and they sound great. A little darker than the DR Pure Blues.
The AB-1 four string got the DR Pure Blues 95-40 Victor Wooten set. The E string just made the nut. Again super light strings. Great sounding, very bright rounds new, and they mellow nicely. The set on my Cirrus are almost done, but they went a good long time.
I’ve got a set of DAddario Nickel XL’s incoming to try. Another super light set 95 or 90 to .035. They were on sale at Fret Nation, $13.97 shipped. I’m hoping they will fit the AB-1, but for sure they will work on the Cirrus. I haven’t used XL’s in years, but I’m hunting super light strings.
I’m on a super light string exploration.

I love Genzler stuff myself. Their Bass Array cabs are the bomb. Their Magellan amps are also killer. I play a Monique amp and love the combination. But I suspect there are many great amps and cabs that will work with the best bass instruments on the planet.I'll likely be waiting another month or two before I order some Payson's... if I decide to at all. I've really been drilling my right hand technique since I last posted which has alleviated a great deal of my problems with pain in that hand. Now I only experience pain in that hand when I slap (in my MCP joint on my index finger, according to google). I'm not sure how to approach fixing that, but I'm sure I'll figure something out.
Any of you folks have any recommendations for mid-sized amps (for band practices/small shows) that work well with your Dingwalls? I'm thinking about returning to realm of live music, but I have not owned an amp for almost a decade, so I am very behind the times on that front. I'm leaning towards a generic power amp+ a cheap or used bass cabinet, since I already have a SansAmp pre that I'm able to live with for the time being.

I HIGHLY recommend checking out the Tech 21 DP-3X dUg Pinnick is pedal. It's FAN-FRICKIN'-TASTIC, and I am truly NOT a dirt guy, but I LOVE that pedal!
I play a Mesa WD-800 atm. Love what it does to the midsI love Genzler stuff myself. Their Bass Array cabs are the bomb. Their Magellan amps are also killer. Which Nordstrand pickups did you have there? Big Splits?
Replying to an old comment. Do you still like the dUg Pedal with a Dingwall bass? I have one on order from the classifieds here. Should be here next week.
