tried to lower the pickups on the D-Bird... not the best idea apparently. For one, the margin before some resistance set in while trying to screw the pickups lower was like 1-2 turns, at best. The pickups did not move down visually. I mean there are three of them, I should see some movement down in comparison to the others, but nothing really. I tightened them down just a little more - mind you not against some unreal resistance, I didn't use much strenght to screw them down - the bridge pickup E side suddenly moves up all the way. It was no longer in contact with the body, I could feel that.

So I took the strings off the bass, I unscrewed the pickup and see that the little metal thread socket has come out of the body wood. Nothing broke or splintered, it just moved out, with little opposition so it seems.

I've done my own setups for years, I've never experienced this before. I've tightened pickups a LOT more than this time. No idea what went wrong, I can only suspect that it was loose from the beginning.

What now? Back to Bass Central since it's basically new? Or try to fix this myself?

Sucks, I would fix it, no big deal.

It happens, my LTD F-415 has amazing fit and finish, Incredible flamed top, THE best fret job I have ever seen and felt- the edges are rounded and polished to a mirror shine truly built like a $2000 bass, but they cut the nut too tall (actually quite a bit) and a couple bridge bolts were not screwed down all the way, had the nut fixed and Sweetwater reimbursed me.

My Combustion should be here tomorrow, I'ts a new B-stock with minor finish problems (couple pebbles in the clear), just hoping everything else is up to par.

I Jumped on it right away on reverb, no offer, it listed for like 2 hours, Price was fair I think so long as she's a player, not the color I wanted, really wanted purple or blue, but these damn things sell like hot cakes.

Again more than what I wanted to spend, but it actually cost me less than a B-1005 and a gig bag- The first one I got was horrible, the second one I got was damaged in shipping and I really didn't like the Pau Ferro fretboard, impossible to see the dots and looked cheap.
The old version was also better built and better looking and had a smaller heel, it was super hard to fret anything past 16th fret.

Jesse has a handful that came in last week, but the cue is backed up for dealers too, so it's been hard for him to get regular restocks. Though I know he has a large quantity on order, including some of the Canadian models. I also know he'd really like to stock a lot of 'custom' builds (it's his thing) but that may not be a reality in the long run.

Nothing to share, really. Just not-so-patiently waiting for my 10th Anniversary Indigoburst, 3 PU, pau ferro fretboard bass to be made and shipped.

Ordered in January. Last I heard was another 6 to 7 months wait.

Nah, Jesse is legit. He’s been so hungry to get more Dingwalls in stock that he bought all the shop’s b-stock while he waits for new production.
