This was my experience with the D-Bird, all 3 on was a bit too dark and didn't work for me in my band. The middle pickup soloed is where I set it and was very happy with that, no need to adjust all my settings when I had that option.

If you pull off the back cover your switch will indicate which one it is. It will either say 3X or Dbird.

It is possible to be either one. Most I believe are 3x

On my D-Bird I like to solo the middle pickup when playing with a pick, and use the bridge/middle setting when I play with my fingers.

I support the 3X switch in 3 pickups Dingwalls. I have it in my NG3, you may lose the 'uber three all on' pickup setting but you gain a few really good positions from it. I asked for it in my NG because I wanted to have a Neck/Bridge parallel setting as well as Bridge/Middle series setting, and getting Neck solo and Bridge solo as the other options.

At one point I had the 3X with the wiring flipped so I had neck/middle in series and it really didn't work either...too dark, boomy and actually had more signal than I wanted.

I think I'll put the 3X switch I have in my D-bird. I really like the neck pickup soloed.

I guess I'll be the holdout...

I totally LOVE the all pickups on option! It's my sound and I rarely stray from it. I specified that all of my incoming ABZs have the D-Bird/Roc switch. It's just so full and massive sounding! I can dial out any "boom" that I feel is overwhelming with the onboard pre or from my amp, but I haven't had to make too many adjustments. I can't wait to hear how 3 FDVs, all in series, sounds. ;)

Then I'm gonna wonder how 3 Super Fatty IIs, all in series, sounds...:laugh::roflmao::laugh::roflmao:

I checked the back and my 2018 NG3 says DB on it.

So the next question, of course; since the selector switch has screw terminals for the pickup wires, is it possible to just switch those about to have the selector do something more similar to the 3x?

I'm waiting for the new pickups that you can just slide in and out so you can swap them on the fly.:D

So Dingwall is already ditching the "D-Bird" switch in the new NG3? That would be a change from the 2018 models. I good change IMO.
