Dont know if its just me, but somehow I find it harder to set my Dingwall that there is no fret buzz than my "regular" 34 scale basses. I know the strings are still new so I will set it again tomorrow. Normally it wouldnt really bother me but I play thru Darkglass XU and it enhances the buzz sound into harmonics and that doesnt sound very good.
Is longer scale actually more sensitive into this because the strings have more lenght to vibrate?
I think so. But you can get the action quite low. If all a person does is play down low for the most part perhaps a bit higher action or more relief isn’t so bad.
Personally I like my action a bit up from low low. For the double thumb it helps me as I work on that technique. I find for tapping a little bit extra height(not to much though otherwise it works against you) is nice to get more dynamics as well.
