I cannot, for the life of me, choose a finish. I think that might be the most difficult part of ordering. Pretty much all the other details are more or less set - though, I'm working with a couple people on developing a new preamp that may end up in this build.

I'm going with an X-top, so something transparent for sure. I have ideas, but, I'm wanting something that is stand-out, like bloodmoon burst.

Ok so I put one layer of normal paper under the E string at the nut and it does not buzz anymore.
So it's a nut issue ?

What do I do now ?

You can take it to a luthier and he/she will fill the nut or you can order a new nut and have a tech set it at the correct height.
I'm doing the latter. Taking my SJ with a new nut (thanks to @SLaPiNFuNK ) for a PLEK job to Paderborn next week

You really should contact the seller or Dingwall about this directly. The odd QC flub slips through it seems but Sheldon stands by his products 100% so with that you should look for a solution through the channels you received the bass vs here. We are more then happy to help you trouble shoot but beyond that they will give you the best help.
If your dealer doesn’t you should be especially sure to let Dingwall know.

That sounds great! We so often hear Dingwall's in a metal setting or with lots of drive/distortion. It's nice to hear them perform well in other genres of music too. Of course, I would expect any bass you play to sound good!

That Dingwall sounds great! What are you running it through? Settings? Its got that killer low mid growl especially around the 11:00 mark or so
