Really impressed with the new one piece bridge on the Import D-roc 5 strings. I was never a fan of solo bridge rails so the switch to this new unit pleased me greatly.
A nice bonus was the top loading of strings ( rather than thru the back ) with the ball-ends hooking in behind the bridge pieces.

being recessed like that it would be considerable work to retrofit if they do make the 4 string change in the future but I wonder if it will still fit to a combustion bass as they don’t have the raised middle strip?

I never liked those mono bridge pieces either. If I end up with another combustion I’d definitely want to attempt this swap.

Can you see the ball ends through the back?

I'd love to see a similar bridge used on the 4 string D-roc.
Just guessing, but if Sheldon D considers it an improvement - it'll probably get implemented more widely across the range.
But depending on where these bridges are coming from, that implementation might take a while due to the state of logistics these days...
