Love these neck illusions

The black swirls sort of tie it into the sparkle black finish, but the minor misalignments give me the visual equivalent of a headache.

I'm assuming that I don't have OCD, as I'm a pretty laid-back, casual sort of person, and my surroundings are usually untidy. I don't think I'd even notice them on something a little more casually put together, like my Hofner.

But somehow, the geometric perfection of a Dingwall, especially the angular design of the Afterburners, seem to give every sticker installation I've seen so far a sort of sinister look.

That's the only way I can describe it- I don't see anything obvious at first, but my eye recognizes that something is almost right, but not quite.

My brain won't let go until it enumerates the imperfections in each axis- relative to the angles of the frets, but also to the ends of the fret markers vs the alignment of the outer strings. It's comical, really, considering that I don't look at the fretboard a lot when I'm playing.

Maybe it’s the angle I took the photo but they are all pretty consistently placed when you look at it in person :shrugs:

Question for the Dingwall brain trust.
I’ve had 6 way switches professionally installed in my Z3-6 and NG3-6. I love the variety but there’s significant hiss when I boost the high mids on 4 of the 6 settings. It also gets louder when I take my hands off the strings. Anyone else experiencing similar issues?
I’ve contacted Jason at Fret Nation where I bought them but haven’t heard back.

I’ve experienced this with the 6 way but also the exisitng 4 ways. Also a couple different pre amps.
The one thing I’ve found which hasn’t helped us zero consistency when I’ve experienced it. Can’t attribute it to a certain light or anything in the room. But sometimes the hiss does not exist and so I do attribute it to an external interference wether it be power supply or RF…? All referring to in my house only. Some other locations definitely always a problem and others problem. Assuming I’m at home the most is why I can pick up on the inconsistency.

Things get pretty hot between the dingwall pick ups and a pre amp.

I kinda thought the same thing. It’s like the ghost in the machine - it comes and goes. Hopefully it won’t be a problem at gigs.

It's 500k on the NG's. I'm almost positive it's linear taper as well. Looking for the one I removed to measure the taper.

Yup as suspected, they were linear taper. B500K alpha pots were stock for volume in my NG's.

Out of my droc, the left was the stock pot*** the right I put on with a different cap to try to open it up more

I’ve had a couple of first gens with FANTASTIC necks on them.

is that price in CAN$$?

if those are really SF2 is square bodies I’d say that is highly unique and rare as hell considering the SF2 came out when they standardized the larger rounded shells. There may have been a brief overlap considering the ABZ also transitioned at that time from square EMG style to the rounds.
Also the new gig bag is a bonus. If it’s can it’s a good price fo sho.

I didn't notice it so much with mine compared to the two NG's I had.
I'd take an old school combustion with the rosewood fretboard over a maple NG any day of the week.

The whole point of introducing the SFII was to standardize the shells. I guess it's within the realm of possibility that they were custom made by Dingwall, but I'm from the Showme state - I'd need proof. I dig the red finish.
