The Paysons have a smoother feel and a bit rounder tone. The sizes are lighter but the tone is still there, so I feel like they give me more control. I also feel like I can get the action lower with the Paysons.
Okay, guys, I was hoping I wouldn’t need to make this post, but y’all remember this?
It is missing, gone unaccounted for by UPS somewhere between when the tracking they sent to me (last “arrival”, LA facility) and possibly arrived at Vegas (per the third party company that Wilkins does shipping through). UPS has opened an investigation, but it’s nearly two weeks unaccounted for, so hopes are waning. It is the only one like this in existence, as it’s freshly refinished by Pat Wilkins. If anyone sees any leads online, Craigslist, eBay, reverb, Facebook groups, etc, let me know ASAP.

UN-like. Will keep an eye. An easy one to spot if it was actually stolen. Does make me wonder sometimes what happens. I've had other stuff disappear and never show up, but not usually at that level. Hope it was insured to cover both the bass and the refinish (though obviously you can't buy a new D-Bird).
It is insured, it would have covered the bass, but not the refinish added to the bass value. I really would much rather have my bass than any insurance payout though, I imagine everyone here understands that sentiment.
File a police report immediately. Hand over serial # and pics pre-printed. Make it as easy as possible for the investigator.
UPS GBS Overgoods is the auction company that sells your lost or stolen items to a few key online “stores”. Your label could have been damaged, or carved out to make it “available”. It’s a whole world I had no idea existed.
If it’s stolen locally to a pawn shop only a serial # will get it back.
I have a contact at Overgoods from the last issue I had with someone carving my label out. Overgoods auctioned it to an EBay store specializing in lost or stolen UPS items from Overgoods.
I’m soooo sorry to hear this.
Hopefully a damaged label. If possible get in touch with a local warehouse manager where it disappeared. Sometimes the right person physically looking for it specifically can sort it out.
A Spector I had been waiting for got “lost” in the local warehouse, thankfully I spoke with the right person and he made it a mission to sort it out, which he did. This did take me going down to the warehouse in person to spur this activity.

and not to preach, just food for thought for all of us, but I almost always prefer air shipping and pay the additional expense to ensure moe direct routing and quicker transit(less hands too)

So I got a first look at a picture of my ABI. It looks to have turned out perfect. Now the last little wait as it makes its way from Saskatoon to Seattle. I have a gig on June 4 that I'm hoping to play it at.

Okay, current status: Since the investigation status change is noted on the app as location North Las Vegas, I went to the actual UPS facility in NLV to see if I could get any more info, as well as bringing more info, if it could be useful in finding it. The desk clerk was not able to be much help, although I did find out that their internal tracking does show it leaving LA (and, yes, the news stories of the wasteland of train robbery packaging material in LA has been heavily preying on my mind). I asked about what happens if it’s not found, has a completely missing label, etc, and she gave me the number for tech support…which was not where I was supposed to call, but at least they gave me the number for Investigations. I called them, and was told that the investigation had been closed due to a lack of information about the package, which sounded sketchy, but the lady on the phone did reopen it when I provided a description of the bass, and its serial number, and gave me an investigation record number. She said that an email should go out in the next couple business days, probably to Pat Wilkins, since he opened the claim and it’s his email on record for that. I asked if there’s any way to get my property back if it goes to Overgoods, and was told that the information I provided would also show up at Overgoods, and if they opened a box and found the bass, with SN and description, that they’d get in touch.
