Did not know that -- my SJ5 has the stamp. My older Dingwall's don't have the pickup stamp. I wonder when the stamping started happening.
As confirmed by Ryan at Dingwall this morning. I sure do appreciate Dingwall's customer service!

It used to just be on a label adhered to the back of the pickup until they introduced more models of pickups. I don't know if it started the same time they switched to the rounded pickup shells or after that.
The FDV in my SP has it, and I bought that around 6 years ago or so, when FDVs were pretty new (I think).
I could be off but I think around 2016/17 it was standardised before that it seems to be a bit random depending on what type of pickup you had.
my 2016 SJ still had the big writing across the whole shell. Time is flying but I think it was 2018 the large rounded shells became standardized across the whole platform and then perhaps a year or 2 later they started with the labelling designation. Once the FDV was really rolling in the line up.
Have to give a big shout out to Dingwall's customer support - my 2008 AB1 6 string started to have truss rod issues - I wasn't able to tighten it anymore (& I needed to); after emailing them I sent in the neck and also asked them to take a look at the frets as I play it every day and the frets were pretty worn...
They ended up fixing the truss rod and refretting the bass free of charge, I was gobsmacked, they even paid for postage back.
I then had issues with some stripped bridge bolts and needed a neck shim... and again they happily popped them into a mailer for free.
Great customer service for a great product, the folks there are amazing!

I opened the ABII today and I checked the inside of the cavity. Everything is fine, not a single loose pot. I would hold the pot on the inside and try to rotate the washers/shafts without the knobs on and nothing.
I did tighten the knobs on the shafts though.
And the volume shaft is kinda scratchy. The pulled out position of the volume pot is especially easy to turn.
Anything I should do about this, look into it? Thanks again

If you don’t have some deOxit I’d get some. Use a very minimal amount and work it into the pots if they are scratchy. It doesn’t always provide a long term fix but it may minimize the scratching.
As for the physical function of the pots, It’s kinda weird that more than one would change like that. Could it be just a bit of newly noticed observations?
I think when pots get loose like that a wiper may be wearing out. This may also cause the scratching too. I don’t exactly know but I would reach out directly to dingwall and Glockenklang For your best answers.
Of all the P's and J's I have, I don't own a bass a with humbuckers. Became intrigued with fanned-fret neck, loved the look so I snagged this one off of Reverb.
These basses are solid and Dingwall knows how to make a nice neck.
Were you aware that under each shell is a 'reverse' split P? Let us know what you think of it after it's in your hands...

I've had it for a couple days now. Imo the fanned frets are easier to play.
There's a lot of clean sounds to find in there.
Inspired me to learn to play better. Been doing a lot of "practice this every day for 20 mins" exercises.
One of the first basses I've owned that has dead nuts perfect intonation along the whole neck.
Don't worry, your new NG will sound incredible.
Do the combustion’s with the rectangular pickups have a three pickup route? Trying to remember
The ones dated after the NG2 came to be do V3(?) BUT it’s not so you can install 3x. You can go MM OR Jazz
