Yep!!! My understanding he is still allowed to make his own stuff as well…. Time permitting of course and I imagine he’s putting in no shortage of hours with dingwall!!

Wow, that's quite the dream team. Seems like some really cool cross-pollination could take place. Like maybe in that headless project that was hinted at some time ago..
I've seen photos of the inside of Dingwall pickups.
Could you tell me, can the FD-3N pickups be non-destructively opened and then reassembled?
Could someone tell me if the NEO magnet is a bar on the bottom, with steel polepieces (probably), or are the polepieces NEO magnets?
This is purely "inquiring minds want to know". I'm not able to reverse engineer anything, just comparing these to what I'm familiar with. Thank you.

Now that I have one in my hands I can give these numbers more confidently.
-The neck pickup location is just about exactly at the middle of the P bass EA and DG sections.
-The bridge pickup location is just about exactly halfway between J bass 60s and 70s spacing.
These locations as a percentage of scale length stay about the same from the G to the B because of the reverse-P-like offset of the polepieces inside the pickup, as said earlier.
Now that I have one in my hands I can give these numbers more confidently.

Me too.. Story behind it is that my lady loves purple, I love green. The riddler finish has been used a few times, I wanted something similar but different, lolol. I just love how at the right angle the purple just jumps out. But only at that angle..

They posted it a month or two after the bass was in my hands if I recall.
Really enjoying the P-tone in the neck position on my SJ5! (Thanks @Thumper !)
Can’t wait to try it out in rehearsal tomorrow!
Changed my strings out (I recycle strings using the denatured-alcohol soak) and now I have a buzz on the E-string at the nut.
Reviewed the excellent setup videos by Sheldon and the buzz remained.
So, I McGiver’d a shim for the nut from a pizza box and the E-string is right-as-rain!
Yeah…maybe it's time for some new stings.
Can’t wait to try it out in rehearsal tomorrow!

The new JT bass is awesome. It’s got a different sonic vibe than the regular combustion or NGs. It’s rounder, smoother, but with a lot of punch and clarity still.
So on my way to work on Friday a tiny kitten ran out into the busy road in front of my car. I hit the hazard lights, got out and rescued her. Took her to the vet for a checkup, they gave her a deworming pill and anti earmite/flea spray, kept her in overnight as a precaution, we then got the all clear and I took her home on Saturday morning. She currently weighs an earthshattering 300g (like, 10oz in American).
She now lives in my practice room/studio for the time being and has taken a liking to my ABZ and Dingwall bag in particular.

Well, it's much cleaner (for, probably, at least three reasons). And, incidentally, it isn't a "rails" type.
Not a bar magnet.
The photos I saw showed the disk *magnets* (on the bottom probably), not the *polepieces* (which I guess are steel).

According to my handy-dandy magnetometer, the field strength at the top of the pickup cover - fishing around for the center of the polepiece - is at the low end of all the pickups I've tested (Fender types). This is good: To me, for alnico pickups to be as clean as possible, the magnets must be strong, but with ceramic and (evidently) NEO pickups, they can be weaker without negative effects, and this makes it less likely that they'll disturb the strings.

I have SF2 Middle and Bridge and replaced the Ptone in the neck with and FD3N and I'm very happy with the results.

Thanks... sadly animal welfare isn't something people take seriously here, and on the side we rescue & rehome cats. We'll be putting her up for adoption abroad when she hits 3-4 months old and has had all her shots, and gets socialized with the others. In the meantime she's gonna learn a lot about great bass tone, black metal and crust punk.
Just don’t let that critter use the AyeBeeZee as a scratching post!!!
