Dingwall Owners Club

My experiences differ. After having my Schallers pop out on me fairly often (I move around a lot, and used to do so even more in my days of youthful exuberance), I switched to Dunlops and have had better luck. Not to say that my Dunlops have never come loose unexpectedly, but they've been better for me in that regard than my Schallers were.

Granted, if you just stand in place and don't move around a lot and always make sure that the receptacles on the strap have not moved/rotated, then the Schallers should be just fine.

Stand in place and don't move around? What's that?

Hello all!

I've been seriously wanting to try a Dingwall for a long time, so when an opportunity presented itself a couple of days ago, I pulled the trigger. I've got a semi-new(to me)Combustion on it's way and I'm really excited! This is my first foray into Fanned Frets, and the reviews and clips I've seen have made it seem like it should be a pretty simple and quick transition, but I wanted to ask you all-what am I really in for and should I be doing anything to get my mind and hands ready for this? Any insight is appreciated.

Also, what strings are you all using and where are you getting them from? Thanks much!

Got a good deal on an old SJ4 joining my SP5. I put all my parallel basses up for sale although I still enjoy playing some of them.

I've also been talking to Barry about a fretless 5er. Not that I'm in a rush or anything...

There's a single song of my band's in which play some very high arpegios so I've got to be conscious whether or not I'm holding a Dingwall. Parallel fingering doesn't work on a Dingwall, and neither does the other way around.
Other than that, it's a piece of cake really.

Looks kinda like mine new one!

Well, the abalone guard (and stock guard) for my Super P would have arrived today if not for the latest winter storm. Even if I could have gotten out of my driveway and to work, the 'feeder trucks' didn't make it in from the central hubs. It's a nefarious plot. :rollno: Hopefully it will be a different story tomorrow...
