Dingwall Owners Club

Random Dingwall thoughts...

I've been gigging my Super J/P4 around town lately...get plenty of compliments on the looks and sound, as well as a lot of "what's up with the frets?!," comments. I've handed mine to many bassists to shows that fanned frets are really easy to adjust to. It sure does sound good :)

Since I briefly owned a Super P4 (which I traded for my Super J/P), the one thing I did prefer (slightly) about the SP was the neck. I emailed Dingwall to ask about the option of putting a Super P, Maple/Pau Ferro neck on my Super J. The price quote quickly helped me love the skinnier maple fingerboard I already have :D

I guess the silver lining is that you only slightly preferred the SP neck.

The fanned frets are definitely a conversation starter with the uninitiated. How are you 'running' the bass?

That's good to know. Thought I was missing something. (Frequently the case, lately.)

The Super P neck is on my P/J. I like the Indian Rosewood.

The Super J neck is on the Super P...temporarily, as it awaits a custom fretless (ebony) neck. Due sometime this spring. 'In the queue!'

I thought the SJ NAMM bass was Black Cherry. The Sklar was Plum.

Forgot to mention that I've finalized a spec with Barry and I'm just waiting on an invoice so i can send off my deposit. After playing the P with the FD3 in the bridge position I knew I had to have one.

Super P5
FD3 in the bridge
Ash Body
Maple Fretboard
Black Pearl Blocks
Black guard
Black Hardware

I'm leaving the color a mystery for now, but it's inspired by the Black Cherry Super j at NAMM.

Oops - Black Cherry, not plum... :rollno:

I just got a "second chance" offer from Ebay on the bronze age Super J 4. I guess the sale fell through.

It's pretty tempting at $1550.00 but a sober consideration of needs vs wants has prevailed. I'm going to pass.

Here's the link, I hope somebody grabs this killer deal. I'm not sure how the second chance thing works, but it looks like a buy it now deal.

Looks like the "second chance" is aimed at me. Sorry if I got everybody worked up. Feel free to contact the seller. I don't know why he just doesn't relist the bass.

The auction seemed to end early, I remember checking in the last day and being surprised that it had ended, and vanished. Like the fabled gold of Eldorado...
