I only briefly had a Super P 4, and it was wonderful and these things are very personal, but I really love my Super J/P4 with both pickups in series for lots of my gigs (mostly high energy country). Aesthetically, I prefer the looks of the P/J pickup config on a J body. My dream Dingwall bass would be a Super J body with a Super P neck. This is what boggles my mind. Experiencing just how nicely the P and Fatty play together (been plucking on the bronze SJ/P4!), and then trying to imagine it getting any better. :eek:

Just FYI...passive pickups are actually inherently higher output than active, hence the active's need for lower impedance pots, and an onboard preamp shouldn't boost volume/output much when set flat either. My hottest output bass is actually entirely passive, just big magnets in overwound pickups :bassist:

Ahh...Thank you for the info! That makes sense to me. Maybe I'll stick with a passive ABI for the next one...:bassist:

Thanx guys ! I also hear a lot of Gentle Giant in the counterpoints. Definately a big fan - I think this is the 4th song of theirs I've done.

I used the neck pickup soloed, with the Darkglass B7K beefening it up (slight bass boost, moderate treble cut, just a hair of drive). Parallel worked too but series just got too heavy.

Great cover man, Dingwall and Darkglass is always an amazing combo ;)

Looks like I'll have a Super P heading my way next week so I won't be such an envious lurker around these parts until my P/F3 build arrives in fall :bassist:
