I have some more news Dingwall news to add, from my side, but I've been loaded (big time) with (daytime) work, rehearsals and recordings. From tomorrow evening I will be away again till Monday, so may I ask BurningSkies to fill in once more for me? Thanks in advance.

Crusader now has two numbers...;)

I've had my eye on the super j for the last couple years, i want one going simply on looks and what you guys say about them, but no one in my area has one to try.

The SJ I'd like to get would be the P/J setup, do they sound like a fender jazz bass or can I get more tones with the newer electronics? also how hard is it to adjust to he fanned frets and how do they benefit the player?

I know this is the Dingwall club thread but figured who better to ask? Thanks!

(I triple checked this time :hiding::hiding::hiding:)

As far as getting used to fanned frets, it took me less than 10" to get used to it. And still I have no problem paying basses ranging from from 34" to 35" to 36" (even playing the guitar!!!:eek::eek:)

I don't have a SuperPJ so I don't know about it's sounds: but I've bought a fretless AB less than a week ago. I've never seen fanned frets before and I already reherse with it, practice, without giving a thought about fanned frets. With the "smaller" SuperJ, I guess it's even more subtle. To adjust is too strong a word.

As for the benefits, hear one and you'll understand. Even tension and even sound. No awkward angles in your wrist when fretting the first few frets. When playing across the board you don't rotate your wrist, just the elbow.

EDIT:

Woo, I'm now #58 and was #59 ;) Moving up the ladder

:)
Thanks.
I am fortunate for sure to be able to have such amazing gear.

there is also a thin laminate of Bubinga separating the top from the body very classy!

- Tom

Again, that is truly one of the most amazing basses I have ever seen! Sheldon really outdid himself with that one!

Tom.

Hello fellow dingwallians!

I am a long time lurker, finally signed on to TalkBass.

I have 2 Dingwalls, both ABIIs

My first one is a four string from the cocobola limited edition run for BassNW (I think its the only 4 string from that run). I was in Seattle visiting family and had to stop in BassNW to see what they had. Never paid much attention to Dingwall before, but one play and I was sold.

I later had a custom 5 string made, another ABII with a walnut neck and it also has a walnut body and burl walnut top. This was the first ABII with a walnut neck. This bass is where my screen name comes from.

Love the Dingwalls! Nothing quite like it. I immediately sold 4 of my parallel fret basses once I got the Dingwalls.

Later,
BigWalnut

We are very pleased to announce echo008 as #60 of the Dingwall Owner's Club. REALLY fantastic looking Dingwall you got yourself

I am sorry I've not been posting as often lately but I've been VERY busy at work, as well as recording, rehearsing (and gigging starts VERY soon too)
