Dingwall Owners Club

Can always ask if they will let you order one for delivery in March at similar price as what you were quoted. I ordered a Ferrari Red one with them.

Just a thought :) March is right around the corner.

Well I'm expecting to have the cash for my bonus within a couple of weeks. That's kind of why I was looking. My plan was to order direct from Dingwall and have a custom setup done, but this one already being in the states might be even better since I won't have to pay the taxes to cross that magic border. I'll probably email them and ask if they could still offer that price if it was within several weeks.

I just picked up a Candy Tangerine Combustion V4 at Long and Mcquade in the Toronto Area. They had a Blue NG-2 that went the same day. I actually played the NG2 and the day before and basically fell in love with it. The tangerine one came in the next day and I had a chance to play it and liked it even better than the NG-2. Just a personal preference. The NG-2 was amazing. Someone had actually ordered the Tangerine one that I ultimately bought and was there to pick it up the day I tried it. He took it home and then brought it back 2 days later and ordered a Swamp ash Combustion. I was pretty stoked to say the least so I snatched it up immediately. Can't wait to gig with it. That's an older Fender Deluxe Jazz case that it is pictured in by the way. I took it in with me when I bought the Combustion just in case it fit. I didn't think it would to be honest. Not only did it fit, it's as close to a perfect fit as you can get.

Hey all. I bought myself a week early birthday present and got this. Whoa!!!!! Needless to say, I am speechless. I recently sold my Fodera and needed a replacement. I hit up my friend who owns and runs Jive Sound here in VA and he told me had this beauty in. Needless to say, after spending a little time with it, I fell in love.

Nice. Whalepool blue always is a good choice. What are the spec details on this one?

Thanks man. I'm not usually a fan of colors like this, but the body appears to be a flamed ash (lightly flamed) and it really helps enhance the grain.
Specs... typical Z2 is my guess. It only weighs 8.0lbs on the dot though which is pure heaven. Other than the weight, I'm not 100% sure the specs differ than what's on the site. 3-piece maple neck, wenge fingerboard, ash body.... LOL.
I gigged with it Saturday and made a few demo tracks overdubbing a couple tunes and man this thing is punchy with the Hand of God sounding low-B. Our PA is massive in my band and a few times that night I just ripped the open B and it shook everyone and everything... Literally. The lights in the place started flickering and bottles of wine were shaking. Hahaha. Everyone turned and looked at me like, "What the *ell was that?!?!?!" Haha.

Looks stunning, Chris, congrats.

Your specs run-down (4 kg? amazing!) and description of sound are both good and bad for me.
Good because it's another indication that I've made the right choice ordering a Z2.
Bad because I ordered in September (Stormy Monday Blueburst, ziricote fretboard, wenge neck, Hipshot, Luminlay) with an estimated build time of 7 - 9 months.

"Educational" in the age of instant gratification ;).

Regards,
Michael

Thanks for the kind words everyone! I am truly loving this bass.

Michael, I can't wait to see yours once it's finished. Yeah, the weight on mine is truly epic! Especially coming from a Fodera which felt like it weighed as much as I did at times. The shop I got mine from had a wenge neck ziricote fb and it was incredible!!!! I would've taken that, but it was outside the spending limit I set for myself.
7-9 months... ouch! Hopefully, it goes by quickly for you. It will be worth the wait.

Hi John,

Stormy Monday Blue burst. Here's one example that's currently in the Classifieds:
http://www.talkbass.com/threads/dingwall-z2-5-string.1113590/ (no worries, Basstard ;)).

Mine will have the standard Northern Ash top (going for one of those X-tops - as nice as they are - was just not justifiable within my budget). There are a couple of examples on the Dingwall site in SMB with the ash top - not "flashy" but understated class.

And Chris, yes, it's a bit of a wait, and I'm only 3 months in. I'll be ecstatic if I get it before my birthday in June.

Regards,
Michael

I ordered this one in transparent indigo. On the info booklet, Sheldon referred to it as "Stormy Monday", but did not use the word burst:

My first Dingwall was "Indigo Burst" over alder. The burst was very, very subtle (lighter and slightly green in the center). I used to have a picture that showed the burst effect better than this one:
