AND a Puma! +1 How do you like the Grizzly Bass pedal?

Yeah, not to mention the Decamp Puma, pumping 900 watts @ 4 ohms into these two cabs. I feel like I have the Mercedes Benz of bass rigs now...finally. As for the Grizzly bass pedal...I love it. I don't use it for distortion though. Mainly use it to get a great slap tone or vintage P bass tone.

I'm kinda on the opposite of side of the fence...in regards to my desire to Mod my SJ5. I wouldn't know who to go to (locally?) or how to go about this....as I've never commissioned a Mod. My main interest is to have a single volume knob for each pickup. I like the tonal options that separate vol controllers allow...guess it is the out of phase possibilities. If this is even do-able, here is what I envision:

1.) Keep the vol control I have now and use as the single volume for the bass pickup...and thereby hopefully retain the push/pull activation for going active/passive on that knob.
2.) Install a second vol control for the bridge pickup and put it where the current pickup/series/parallel rotary control is.
3.) Install a 2-way mini switch for selecting between series and parallel (guessing really wouldn't need a 4-way, as I would have the separate vol controls).
4.) If depth of the body allows, install a stacked Bass/Treble pot for when the pre-amp is engaged...and put that where the current treble pot is.
5.) Install a separate/passive tone control (ideally something like the Dingwall Tone-Fusion) in place of where the current bass pot is.

I dig the Glockenklang pre-amp...but don't know if what I have in mind is something that I could commission someone to piece together from their offerings. Then there is the passive control I'm looking to add, thereby allowing different tonal options for active versus passive. Not sure if that is compatible with what I'm interested in doing...of if Sheldon would sell someone just a Tone-Fusion pot. Any recommendations as to how one might pursue such a mod?

I'm sure there's someone in your area that could do this for you. Maybe even a TB member. It's really just a wiring job.

My ABZ6 has a 2 band Glock preamp which does active-passive switching. The volume knob is a push-pull (pull up for passive), and in passive mode the preamps treble control functions as the tone pot. Very handy. I'd venture a guess that Glock probably offers a stacked 2-band pre with active-passive function.

I had asked SD before on the DW forum if one could buy the Tone Fusion separately and the answer at the time was no, but maybe that's changed. If not, you'll probably still be pleased with all the different options you'd have with a regular tone control in passive mode.

Dual volume controls only work in parallel. You'd have to give up the series combination. The Glock treble is passive on the cut side even in active mode.

Is that true of all the Glock 2 bands? That would explain why I hear virtually no difference in the rare instances I do engage the pre and leave the preamp controls centered on the detents. Makes me rethink how little I use the preamp!

That is a Dingwall feature, not a Glock feature. Previously used Audere preamps had the same active/passive hybrid treble. Combustions, of course, are an exception.

What I would ideally like to end up with is this:

All in series connections

Neck
Neck + Middle
Middle
Middle + Bridge
Neck + Middle + Bridge

loosing Neck+ Bridge kinda sucks, but I have the feeling I would run all three in series most of the time anyways.
The Glock pre sounds good but I'd really like to check out that Darkglass Tone Capsule. The 3X pickup with voodoo switchblade gives you 5 alignments to choose from but if you don't have a pretty good idea how they'll sound, which ones do you leave out? I think it would depend on your tonal preferences. I typically don't solo the bridge pickup but use it in a blend for added bite. The middle pickup seems like it would sound good soloed - a bit fatter than the bridge but more focus than the neck. From my ABZ-5, I liked both pickups in series. Can the switchblade settings be specified as series or parallel? If so, I think mine might be:

Neck (solo)
Neck + Bridge (parallel)
Middle (solo)
Middle + Bridge (parallel)
Middle + Bridge (series)

The most I've seen a Dingwall loaded up with is 5 knobs and 3 switches. I'm wondering if a 3X pickup with P-tone neck, voodoo switchblade, and Darkglass Tone Capsule would work with this configuration in a Super J or AB1?
Series/parallel switch for each pickup on its way to the switchblade.
The switchblade then selects which of the 5 given alignments goes to the volume knob.
Using a push/pull pot for the tone would allow active/passive switching.
The last 3 knobs would adjust bass, low mid, and high mid eq.

This box was dropped off at work for me earlier today (2:22PM, to be exact):

Inside the box is this:

Looks promising ...

... then I open up the gig bag and find this little surprise:

And I might have to leave it right there because phone pix don't do this beast any justice at all. More in the coming days. Oh OK then, here's the ziricote fretboard:

Absolute stunner I have to say. A massive "Thank you" to everyone at Dingwall. Looks amazing. Feels out of this world. Can't wait to plug it in and shake the foundations!

Michael

I have the earlier hybrid treble tone control paired with an OBP-1 (18v) on my bass. When set to the center detent then the bass is all the way CCW (boost only, so no boost), the preamp is a 0db gain unit. Switching between the preamp engaged and bypassed with the controls zeroed gives no volume difference and the tone is altered so little, that I'd guess that very few could discern a difference between P/A. Since the treble roll off is passive, you can basically leave it in the same place whether you're passive/active and have the same result in the treble response.

I do use mine in active setting for a couple reasons.
-I use a bit of low end 'goose' from the OBP-1
-I like the idea of the buffering to my amp (although I think it may be buffered in passive mode anyway)/
