I am spoiled, but in the opposite direction! I have found that it is the long scale basses that are the ones that just work for me. And I also don't want to play anything else.Thanks to Sheldon, I am spoiled in the exact same way.

I'm not sure I "can" share this yet... I do some beta testing for some people revolving around the Fractal Audio world. Part of this is playing with the new stuff that's in the pipeline. I'm really digging the tone of some of the new cabinet modeling that's coming very soon, so I threw together some (poorly played) short clips.
Normally, I record these and send them back and forth between the other parties, so we can tweak stuff and make it all around better. This new modeling is coming out any day now, so I thought I'd just jump on here and share some Dingwall goodness in some familiar tunes.
Again, apologies for the craptastic playing... I'm on a time crunch like crazy with house buying + moving, recording for both of my bands (I laid this down between takes for originals), work, gigs and so on.
The first two sections of the No Doubt tune are with phi, blue AB1. P-tone was solo'd, glock pre was set flat. The Iron Maiden tune was P-tone solo'd, bass boosted ever so slighty, highs boosted about 1/8th turn. So freaking good.

Thanks you two I'll be doing more recordings of some covers... it's been weird being in that mindset, musically. I'm so familiar with composing and original work that sitting down and playing something that someone else wrote and recorded feels alien. It's neat to be able to produce something fairly quickly, though.

I am definitely scheming another dingwall fix for sure. I doubt it will be a custom build though. That is just too damn pricey for me these days! BUT, I am saving up for something on the "slightly used" market. I would like to get my fingers on an ABxxx or Z3x. 5 or 6 strings is good. Right now, I'm trying to get enough cabbage together so that I can pull the trigger when the right one appears. It's funny, but I like adopting at least as much as speccing my own. I actually like falling in love with one I see, at least as much if not more than imagining one. Of course, the price is better and so is the wait.I knew that about you, Bob. I really love my Voodoo Prima, as it is not only Dingwall history, but it has a very different and awesome sound that is a nice departure from the modern Dingwall. Plus, it really has amazing playability. But I would probably sacrifice it if necessary to have a really nice xxx. If I get the money together though, I can keep the Voodoo and still have my 3x. So we'll see.

Sheldon mentioned in his FB post that it looks like the wood grain is being sucked into the neck pickup (looks that way to me too). Cool serendipitous special effect!

Took this in trade. Just getting acquainted. I've been D-curious for some time, and now is as good a time as any.
I have the opposite mindset at the moment. I had owned several non-custom ordered Dingwalls for years, before receiving my first custom about 6 months ago. I took great pleasure in customizing all possible aspects of the bass. And because I had owned several Dingwalls, I new exactly what was right for me. Turned out to be the must awesome bass I've ever owned.

While my next Dingwall is a custom-order, I feel it'll be the last custom one I can afford. I'm pretty OK with used, and now that I'll have three solid choices for Dingwalls, I can be patient and picky when I do see used ones pop up.
