mine too, and while TI flats are the best strings I have played, the B is too big/not tapered and I couldn't get it to work on my Combustion
TIs would be perfect for me except for that B string, had I kept the ABI, I was going to keep the E-Gs on and put a roundwound B on it.
Now that you mention it, I do recall removing my saddle screws and grinding them short to fit the larger, untapered, strings. That brought the action down to a very acceptable level.
Good news is, the cap head stainless screws are easy to find at any well stocked hardware store.
I've used a huge range of gauges on my Dingwalls without modifying the nut, so that whopper of B string worked okay at that end of the neck.
If I ever settle on one set of strings, I suppose having a new nut might be worthwhile. Meantime, the stock nut works well enough.
I'm running 100-30, E-C, with just one minor open string rattle that I fixed with a bit of heat shrink tubing. Action is extremely low with this set up.

that's why I haven't brought it home. Maybe I could string it differently or something. It would be ******** of me to buy it. With that said, every different bass, I believe, provides a different inspiration. New riffs, different ways of playing, etc.
I actually love my bass set up now. I just need a P4
and eventually a Z3 six to replace my Roscoe(killer bass). I guess the other thought that I have had is, for example, I was going to go play with another band and I think it was gonna be a major drunk fest last night. I didn't really want to bring any of my basses out. They had an OLP with probably 3 year old strings on it as an option. If I had a lower valued Dingwall that I had less attachment to, like a combustion or something, it would have been better suited for something like that. People often ask to play my dingwalls and my answer is NO. In certain situations it would be alright to say yes if I had something a little less expensive.

You can request for a custom carve on the AB neck for a reasonably priced up charge. I had it done on both of my ABs & it's pretty sweet. No where as slim as the Z but fits my hand better. Neck stability is excellent as expected.
I explored the TIs with a different B string, but the tone of the TIs is so distinctive that I couldn't find anything for a B that was remotely passable alongside them. Right now I use an unmatched set; a Payson GW B with La Bella E-G. This is, by a pretty good margin, the best solution I've found for flats on a Combustion. There is a tonal change between the two string types, but no one notices it unless I tell them or they look at the windings on the headstock (which no one has ever mentioned to me - people are too busy looking at the crooked frets).
The TIs sound and feel so good, though, that I might look at this idea of modifying the saddle for the B....
Or, if Sheldon just makes those flats, I think my problems will be solved....
