Like I said, it sounds pretty decent, but the bass is already getting buried. I'm sure some of you can also pick out some of the other issues... and I cut it before the vox kick in, which have their own issues
Cool song! Im sure you don't play a dingwall to get buried in the mix. some engineers.......
I'm pretty close to buying a used Combustion version 1 locally. But I'm wondering should I wait and save for the newest version? It'd cost me an extra €500 to get the new one over the used one for sale. Is it worth it for the upgrades?
Also, is there a way to check how old a Dingwall is? The seller says he doesn't know how old it is but he has supplied a serial number from the back of the headstock.

I went from a V1 Combustion, to a V4 Combustion, to three Canadian AB1's.
In my opinion, there's nothing at all wrong with the V1s. There are differences, but only you can really decide if those mean much to you, especially at a €500 difference. I still kind of wish I had a Combustion around...

I'd say email Dingwall the serial number and ask. They are usually quite quick to respond. As for your options. Id say it depends on your budget. An older dingwall is still an awesome instrument 9.99999999999999 times out of 10. you may get more satisfaction out of a newer one but I've personally had the opposite happen very recently. MY new to me older SJ has just been blowing me away. And I have a pretty brand spanking new one that does the same only differently.

Is it doubling the main riff/guitar line? that would make it a little tough to pick out in the best of circumstances.
Yeah, lots of doubling here (I'm not a good enough bass player to make room like some good metal guys can). But, should still be able to poke through. If Rob van der Loo doesn't have issues, I shouldn't eitherI'm sorry, did you say the bass was already in this mix?

When i bought my ABZ-5 I emailed: [email protected] and they replied pretty quick when and where it was first sold.
Thanks for the replies guys! I'll e-mail Dingwall with the serial number and see what they say. Think I'll go for the used Combustion, I don't think there's enough in the V4 models for me to spend an extra €500.

I could not hear the bass. (using headphones) please post the track when it is like it should be, i really like it.

I just saw that colour in person for the first time just the other day. It's a beautiful bass!!! I love what they have done with the paint on this generation. Congrats.
