Yes and no... The clean sound is as good as I have ever heard; however, I can't really seem to get a very pleasing sound out of the Microtubes side with the Thunderchild. I can almost get there with some pretty drastic EQ'ing, but not quite. At that point, if I switch the Microtubes off the clean sound is no longer pleasing.

I'm running into the same issue with my Barefaced BB2's. There is no attenuator for the highs, just a crossover that redirects them to the speaker rather than the horn. So although it's not as bright and in your face sounding the high end is still there. Most of my dirt sounds are just meh to me right now, but it all started when I switched to Dingwall. With other basses and the same cabs it wasn't as much of an issue, but I like the Dingwalls to much to change them

I may look at different cabs but the BB2's are amazing so it's hard to think about moving away from them. I may try out their Two10 or Four10.

For the interm I recently grabbed a Beta DLX which is a much darker OD than my usual. It's been doing pretty well for me.

Have you guys played around with pickup heights or different pickup settings? And even certain pickup settings with active/passive comparison or rolling off the volume knob a bit for a change in tone? These have made some huge differences for me. I also don't use any dirt pedals so maybe that gets tricky? I'm running an ABII into Mesa D800 into fearful 12/6/1 with true 3 way crossover.

That's my only issue. Everything sound amazing otherwise. I haven't messed with pickup height but everything else. I also just switches from SS to nickel (again).

I really think it's mainly the lack of an attenuator for highs on the cabs. The speaker itself is so full range that it's still putting out a lot of high end content when the crossover the sending everything to it. With dirt tones the high end is just brittle and harsh.

Another step I want to try is FDV's. Alnico vs. neo...

I prefer the NG-2 configuration. Bass is more restrained, and the mids are more present. I run both of my Dingwalls in the serial mode all the time now.

Mine was upgraded to FD3 4-L pickups and someone decided to paint purple over trans black, so it isn't exactly stock.

Michael from Shome Music turned me on to Bergantino equip., and I recently bought a pair of Reference 112s, these little cabs are amazing. I am pushing them with a Bamp, which , I believe makes a difference to, but this rig made my Schecter Omen 5 sound pretty good, I can't wait to here my new NG2 thru this rig. I'll let you all know in a week or two as that's the projected estimated arrival date. You have to be willing to spend a bit more tho for the Bergantino equip, but well worthy it IMHO !

The NG-2 configuration sounds more modern and mid-focused to me, but that's just me. There are plenty of demos on YouTube that I think accurately represent the sound of both.

They're fine. I'm not sure what you're asking, but, if you like SS strings normally, you likely won't like the nickel ones on there. Easy enough to fix that at the next string change.

I've been using Elixir strings on my Shecter 5 .045 - 130TW and am pretty happy with the tone.

My Barefaced cabs replaced my Berg CN212. I was totally happy with the CN212 but I was blown away when I heard the BB2's. Much more useable low end and louder. I do prefer the crossover design on the Bergs. It's seamless (as is the Barefaced), but it's more intuitive to me.

I still have my NV610T which would likely solve my "issue" but it weighs almost twice as much and is much bigger to move around.

Dave, are the BB2's pricey, I'm looking to have a second rig. I have a Rumble 500 head I'm just using for practice at home right now since I got the Berg rig. Not happy with the Rumble 410, AND 115 that I currently have. I'd be interested to hear the BB2's, but would probably have to drive over to Cleveland to do so.

The difference between pickup placement on a Combustion and an NG2 is analogous to the difference between a Music Man and a Jazz. The NG2 and Music man will be more mid focused; the Combustion and Jazz will be more scooped.

Someone did a 3x import.... not sure if it started as an NG-2 or Combustion, but in either case, the end result would be similar from the pickup perspective.
