What a sad day for me, most my friends, and the underground metal community that most of you could never understand. You can ask people who enjoy a particular genre of music why they like it and you'll get a short answer. Ask a metalhead why he likes metal and you get a story, a reason, and a **** ton of passion. Ronnie James Dio was one of these reason we have such passion for OUR genre. Thanks for your contributions. \m/ We will miss you! \m/
Anyone see the documentary "Metal: A Headbanger's Journey"? Dio was by far the classiest guy in it- very gracious and genuine. And what a voice. One of the first metal albums I ever got was "Holy Diver". I don't honestly listen to his music much anymore, but he was an early influence of mine in the sense that he got me into metal as a lad.

His work with Rainbow, Sabbath, and his solo stuff shaped my early years as a musician to an extent. He always was surrounded by excellent players, wrote well, and was an excellent live performer.
He will be greatly missed. A sad day to be sure.

I remember seeing Dio rip it up on the Last in Line tour, and he always seemed like a peach of a guy.

RIP Dio, what a legend. I never realized until I looked through my music collection just now, but a majority of my music is Dio, from Elf to his recent solo albums.
I'm still kicking myself for missing an opportunity to see Heaven and Hell live some weeks ago. It was late at night and a good drive away, and I had work in the morning, so I passed. Now I'll never get that chance again.
Time to break out my Rainbow albums in tribute.
