Do Stickers Make a Bass Trashy?

I think TB seems to have a HUGE issue with over analyzing.

Whether its the best bass for metal, it has flats or rounds, looks like a coffee table or a cheap SX.

People, come on.

Sometimes it's just a frickin' sticker.

By the way, my bass will be rockin a Donald Duck sticker at this Friday's gig, for obvious reasons.

To each his own. I agree with the sticker if you want crowd. Have none on my Stingray but one on the pickgaurd of my Jazz.

Best sticker job I ever saw was a guy in my brothers band in the 90's. He had a big one on the back of his bass that said "Tune it or die" and would flip it over and flash it when one of the guitarist needed a gentle reminder.

I think I could use a complete message board or mobile screen on my bass. Including big flashing signs for speeding drummers.

A work in progress... I think spray paint and stencils may come into play soon.

to me sticker on a bass scream "Punk" and punk music. Also why putting sticker about other band or brand ...

for the record I have many tattoos on me, but no tattoo of a band nor of a brand that I like what they are selling. I'm not a walking pub.

I'm currently looking for a "donald duck" sticker to put on my black faux jazz bass. (Rip, Donald Dunn!)
Honestly,a beat-up painted black j bass with a mint pickguard is pretty boring looking by itself. Personally,i like seeing the odd sticker here and there. (nobody's mentioned PM's "red rose speedway" sticker on his Ric?)
I am 58,so the "immature" remarks may not necessarily apply.....:bassist: :ninja:

Good luck. I've been searching every local store for a Donald Duck sticker. I've found NOTHING.

By the way, I'm 42. I've had many stickers on basses over the years. It just depends on the bass, and the sticker.

The one (the ONLY one...) redeeming quality of all the stickered basses I've seen in 9 pages of the thread is that (unless I missed it) there is not a single 'bullet hole' sticker.

The exception is the pic of Duck Dunn with the rubber ducky sticker...he can be excused, he earned it.

Have thought about something a little crazy. I love the look of Buddy Guy's white polka dotted guitar. Thought about trying those out on my Geddy for a new look. While I like it, I have second thoughts. I would never consider it on my Ric or Stingray.

I encourage my students, but especially the younger ones, to do whatever they can to make their instrument "theirs". Give it a name, put on a sticker, sign it, whatever. The kids take on more ownership, it seems, which leads to more dedication to practicing and working, and most of them are on pretty cheap starter basses anyway.

Personally, I have often put stickers on my basses in the past, although never with the intention of permanence. Right now, there are no stickers on any of my basses, but that's mostly because I haven't found one lately I find all that compelling.
