Do you answer the OP's question, or do you just go off on your own rant?!

Do you answer the OP's question, or do you just go off on your own rant?!

  • My purpose on TalkBass is to be a spring of knowledge for the bass community

  • It depends on the day

  • My wife asked me to stop telling her about why this new bass is the best yet, so I sprinted to TB

  • Never really gave it any thought...

What's an OP?

I try in some way or another to answer the OP's question and I am aware that I should. But, I'm bad for going off into tangents. Rants? Unless if I can post a somewhat humorous rant, I don't rant. Rants are kind of uncool, generally speaking. But some rants can be informative and a "life lesson".

How often does your response to a thread actually answer the OP's inquiry
- directly = 86%
- indirectly = 8%
- derails = 5%
- joking = 50%
- totally lost = 20%
- NBDs and member recordings = 100%
- tangential aldous huxley quotes = 0%

i voted "it depends on the day" (which it does!) but it also depends on the thread/post. some threads aren't inquiries in the first place, e.g., many "rant" posts are really just 'whining-in-front-of-an-audience'....

per the OP: i try. :D
