Do you have a 'brand'?

I didn't realize we could bring our guitars into this, too.
I'm still a Leo-ite.
Fenders: Strats, Teles, Partscasters.
Ibanez Roadstars and Pro Lines that are Super Strats.
Charvel Model 3 (Superstrat).
My only deviance is a Danelectro 56 U2 and a 1991 Gibson Les Paul Studio I used to own. The LP lasted about a year.

In that case, guitar wise I am a Gibson electric guy and a Taylor acoustic guy.

My bass tastes are all over the map but I am totally happy with my Les Paul Studio and Taylor 214E acoustic and they are all I have played guitar-wise for over a decade.

I couldn't care less what brand my bass of choice happen to be.

In fact I tend to cover up the logo of most of the stuff I use.

I do have a bass though that currently fills my preferences in a bass well:

An Ibanez Mikro, 28,6" scale bass, on which I swapped the stock pickups for a pair of P/J EMG Geezer Butler pickups.

I found the 28,6" and relatively narrow high radius fret board to be a perfect fit for my hands, so it's not like I really have a lot of options regarding brand.

If I did, and had the money as well, I would have no second thoughts replacing it with a higher quality bass with a look and design more to my taste, and the brand would be of no concern to me whatsoever.

Ibanez does generally seem to put out basses of extremely high quality compared to the price they ask for them though.

Pre-Gibson Tobias (before the "brand" was destroyed by Gibson). Love the asymmetrical 34" neck, wood combos, body shape, balance, tone and feel. Just splendid.

When you hear a song on the radio is the first thing you think of , gee, I wonder what brand of guitar or drum or whatever that person is playing ? of course you don't.

Branding is only important to advertisers that want to sell you there wares

I had to amend this. Since that 2017 post I've purchased 3 Squiers. The pair of SS Jags go to every gig while the Fenders stay safety at home.

For guitars my brand is fender stratocasters and have played one since 1992. As for bass I never owned many and only one at a time as i was a guitarist most of my music life. So i never bonded with any of my then total of 4 basses. I bought an alembic signature bass in 2002, loved it and am sticking with that so that would be my brand.

I don't have a brand. . . . . . but after about 20 years playing Stingray, Wal and then Lakland, I've noticed that I have reverted to a preference for shapes. Basically 5 string Precision and Jazz basses.

No, I don't. I have too many different spots in my herd for one company to fill. Fender, for example, doesn't make neck-thru basses; or headless basses; or violin basses... And Rickenbacker doesn't make aluminum necked basses; or P-Basses... you get the idea...

While I don't think I have a "brand," it seems that the basses that I buy are all made by Fender. I did buy a Musicman but ended up returning it when I realized that humbuckers aren't my thing. So now I own two Fenders (with a third on the way). Maybe I do have a "brand."

B.C. Rich. I know they have some dark spots in their history, and the body shapes aren't for everyone. I personally can't stand their 90's designs. But, they seem to have returned to their boutique roots, and if their old stuff is made like their new stuff, I'd love to hear some late 70's models (mostly just to play with the knobs and toggles). Sensitive and aggressive at the same time.
