I tend to agree with that. Like I mentioned before, I'm not as much of a doom/stoner metal fiend as some of you, but when I think doom, I don't think of the bass as cutting through the mix, but rather BECOMING the mix.

Indeed you also should have enough low end that the bass will be sorely missed if it drops out of the mix, I think that's the key.

For the three songs on our page, I was using my Epi T-bird, boss OC-3, Supercollider, and a Boss Bass EQ, into my Sunn Concert Bass (200 watts solid state), into my rear ported 4x10 and my 1x18. We threw a bass drum mic (AKG D112) on the 1x18 only and the volume on my amp was as loud as it would be live, just that I didn't have my other amps and cabs hooked up. I've since ditched the Boss EQ pedal, as I found it to be almost artificial sounding, compared to using my amps extremely minimal controls... (volume/bass/mids/treble/bright switch)
I'm wondering, why are you having such trouble getting a Supercollider? I believe Mark will ship out of the states but maybe other TBers can correct me if I'm wrong on that.
It may be worth noting that I recall reading somewhere, that the Sunn Concert Bass' pre-amp was designed to be clipped, to simulate tube clipping. Without any effects turned on, it sounds like a harsher version of tube distortion, and I always set the volume so it's clipping constantly but not to the point of muddiness. In our song Hammer Wagon, during the brief "quiet" part, I'm using no effects, just the dirtiness of my amp. I'm not sure how much that clipping plays into my tone once the fuzz is turned on though but I imagine it still has a lot to do with it.
I want to get a pair of Sunn tube amps this year, but we'll see how money is.

Besides, if I can get a Supercollider in my possession, having more than two pedals never hurt anyone. Don't some people run two distortion pedals (one for fuzz, and one dry)?

Mark usually does these pedals in batches now I believe, so he'll make a handful, and then put them up for sale and once their gone you have to wait till the next batch. Keep checking his page periodically, I'm sure a new batch will be for sale soon. Mark isn't always able to be on top of his Emails, so be patient with that.
I now have a Devi Ever Dark Boost that I use WITH my Supercollider, use it on it's own, and I still use the SC on it's own. I'm planning on getting another fuzz, something completely non-muff based though. I just say if you have a use for more than one fuzz, then get more than one fuzz, simple as that.

How's that Devi Ever pedal sound? How does it sound WITH the Supercollider?
I play a bunch of grind, but we play around with alot of doom sounding stuff. We have a ****** selection of pedals tho. I use a nice fuzz pedals,grind pedal, and grunge pedal and can usualy get sum pretty good sounds.But I need a better selection

Now I just need a nice delay pedal like the Malekko Echo 600 Dark to create some harsh noises and other absurd noises. Or a Psychic Parametric.
The dark boost, if you don't know is just a dirty boost to the low end, think like, from the midrange down. It can get fairly distorted if you want but I use it on it's own just to add more dirt for "clean" parts. I don't use any tones that aren't at least a little dirty sounding so I call it my clean. It can be clean, it can be extremely dirty. It overloads my Supercollider and forces the signal to compress when they are used together, causing midrange harmonics to take over most of the time especially with powerchords. It's definitely a cool little pedal.
I think RC nailed it. Big Muff variants are king here in our sad little lonely realm.

Actually, I don't necessarily disagree with this. I definitely think that wall of doom thing has its place. BUT, if I had to pick between wall of doom (say Earth, or to some degree The Sword) and wall of bass doom with the guitar and bass being separate sounds (Young Widows, for example) I will go the latter every time. But fortunately I have both sounds at my disposal. I would say for the first option a good bass-heavy Muff (Bluebeard) is my pedal of choice, whereas the B:Assmaster and Superfuzz fit more with my style.
