Dumb Craig's List Ads thread

I wish that was the first ad from this area I've seen that is that terrible!

Its near impossible to find anything not sold by a moron around here these days it seems. Last one I got off CL was very similar to that ad, somewhere midle-of-nowhere rhode island, but it was white, and the owner had sanded rings into it because they wanted a bullseye pattern.

I DID buy it, but only because it was $80 (at least the kid realized it was a squier and priced it a such), to use the remaining parts that hadnt been desecrated.

I'm not sure if this is attached to the right thread, but this ad really made me laugh. Enjoy it while it lasts!

He needs the money to buy a flash for his camera.

On a side note, I sold a Chinese made P-bass "Johnson by Axl" which I paid $25 for originally, as it was trashed and "reliced", I did a chemical strip and applied an oil finish, then changed some of the parts with spares, including an EMG active pickup I got for dirt cheap as well. So I sold it for $125 OBO and then ended up selling it to the nicest dude who was counting his pennies and who plays at church, he's converting to bass from guitar, as they can't find a bass guy (heard this story before 100 times). For $100 it was fair (and I made like a $10 profit).

For kicks and gigs, when I went to remove the ad from CL, I decided to up the price to $250. Would you believe it I had a lot of calls, mostly from mom types looking for a bass for their kid. I could have scammed them for $200 easily, when you could get a very decent Ibanez, SX or Yamaha for that price.

Seriously, there is a sucker born every day and unfortunately some people take advantage of them.

"New band forming featuring horns. I still need a trumpet player. This is roots rock stuff blended with some blues and a little white eyed soul. If you're into Tower of Power and all that stuff, thats ok I just want to be clear that this isn't it. Its also not the Mighty Bosstones or anything like that."

Maybe he means, "Don't play till you see the whites of their eyes...."

Not bass related, but somewhat funny:

My Nerdy Husbands Guitar - $100 (Wells Branch)

'm selling my husbands guitar. He couldn't bear to post himself, so I'm doing it for him.

It's an Eterna acoustic guitar, and manufactured by Yamaha. He's played it three times. It's got all it's strings. He was a tuba player in high school band and had this delusion that he could learn guitar and then, I don't know, join some sort of rock band and be a way cool dude. Now he's come to accept the fact that he's a father of two who is a D&D playing nerd. Hell, he even plays the drums when we play Rock Band- if a man can't even play guitar on a video game, than why would he delude himself that he can play a real guitar?

Anyway. He's a nerd who cannot play guitar. It was $170 new, and looking around the web they seem to go for 170 to 200 new. Please come and get the symbol of his failure at being a Cool Dude (tm) out of our living room so he can go back to being happy being a much beloved video game nerd dad, and I can stop dusting the damn thing.

I might be open to a trade to lower the price, kids stuff appropriate for a 9 yo girl or 7 yo boy are usually interesting to me.

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

I have the PA amp that was used in the Trial of the Century. It is a Stewart PA-50B. I recieved it from the Contractor that remodeled the L.A. County Courthouse. It still has the Seal of the L.A. COURTS on the back an it says jurybox on the front. I have powered it up an jammed my Ipods threw it an its loud as hell for a half rack space power amp! This is a collectors item like no other. Millions of people watched the Trial an listen to this amp ."If the glove dont fit you must aquit" So give me an offer. I will list it here for 7 days then it's off to Ebay .

Not exactly funny, but I'd be curious to see what they can do...
