EBMM StingRay Special Club

Last week I took my uncle to go put basses in his hands, see what he likes.
The GC store had this GC LE Special, and it is freakin fabulous sounding.
I'm sure he'll be buying it very soon, he couldn't stop talking about it.

I would kill to have a 30th anniversary one as well.

It's what converted me to 5 strings. I saw it used at Guitar Center 3 years ago for $2k and jumped on it, so glad I did! It was in mint condition, couldn't believe it. Sold all my 4s and bought 5s a month or two later lol

I hear you. There are a few other models of a Stingray I’d love to pick up, but I can only justify having so many basses. So I’m sticking with two Stingrays right now.

Although, I’d also like to try some other Musicman models, too, such as a Bongo 5HH, a 25th Anniversary 5, or even a Caprice (despite being a strict five-string guy) in addition to a few more Stingrays.

Basically, I need to find a valid way to justify increasing limit from six basses to about 10-12. LOL.

Although, I’d also like to try some other Musicman models, too, such as a Bongo 5HH, a 25th Anniversary 5, or even a Caprice (despite being a strict five-string guy) in addition to a few more Stingrays.

If you can ever get your hands on a Stingray Classic 5 I would consider it. I absolutely love mine!

That’s the Stingray 5 that’s probably the least like the ones I already have and it’s the version that's at the top of
my list Stingrays to add, even though it’s only available in a single H configuration (IIRC).

Starting to feel like I am in the minority; bought my Special because of it's tone as compared to Pre EB, Classic and pre-Special [although I would be happy with any of those also]

All the modern upgrades [to me] I see as a Bonus

I can get 'Good enough for Gov't Work' tones of others if needed; So far not really needed but I did take the time to find them

Do it! You won't regret it. I love my non-Stingray MM basses. The Bongo and Caprice are definitely different enough to justify adding to your arsenal.

Not going check 536 pages; has anybody commented on that EBMM Big Al and Bongo had 5 bolt neck, 18 volt pre
and Neodymium Pickups before they had courage to add to Stingray and then call it Special

And now offer a exact Retro for the Pre-Ernie Ball 2 band Cultist and their converts in which 'Big Poppa' said he would never do

Great for EBMM and Players; hopefully these 2 products will help them in moving forward for decades to come.

Point taken, I’m know guilty of talking about other basses in this thread. In my defense, my non-Special comments have been almost entirely Musicman-focused, so hopefully I didn’t go far enough off topic to offend .

I do own a Special that I absolutely love and it’s currently in a struggle with my other Stingray and my other non-Stingray Musicman in a battle for the number one spot in my collection. Though I do have a favorite amongst those three, that favorite gets about a 33.5% “share of the vote” and the others each get a 33.25% share. IOW, it’s close enough that I find it saner to simply call them and think of them as the “tri-captains” in my collection.

But I will try to be more Special-focused in my posts in this thread.

You might have also just given me an idea..

A Honeyburst Special?!? I never knew there was such a bass.

I'd have some serious thinking to do if I ever come across a 5HH. And probably best I don't go looking for one!
