Bridge posts started coming out of the body! Bad. I was tuning the bass & noticed ea string was dropping a step after I just tuned it. I look back & the bridge posts are coming out of the wood!
AMS is sending me another 2nd day air God bless them. I need my bass next thur--sun!
My other bass is in pieces better put it together.

Heres an update if anyone cares to know--replacement bass has much lower action. Stock strings aren't terrible I used them at rehearsal. They pass w tone rolled back.
And bass resembles a P at the low switch setting. Good output at the high setting I was just looking for something rounder and darker.
I have another practice tonight haven't had time to intonate or drop in labellas yet but it came out the box pretty close intonation. Paint is a little brighter on this one. Maybe my imagination.
Peace

Thanks mike. I hope this one is for keeps. I have 40 days of warranty to find out.
I wish I could know for sure & swap stock tuners for my ultralites.

case arrived too. im waiting for the handle to break off right when i'm going over the grand canyon or something. doesn't sit perfectly flush on one section near the middle. i guess this is a review for the casady hsc. my expectation is higher for epi/$125 sig bass case. bad luck for me.

Score.

Very nice, Tabdog! I think the EBO's look much better w/o the pick guard!
Are the screw holes actually filled with something, or do they just look faded in because they have been exposed for some time?

Hay Offhand,

The holes look faded in because the nail
polish didn't quite match.

This morning, I put toothpicks in the holes.
I cut them off with a razor blade and paint
with fingernail polish. It doesn't quite match
but it not too noticeable,

The seller didn't know what happened to
the PG.

It is strange about the holes. It looks like
someone put two pickguards on it at one
time. A right hand and a left hand. I say
that because I've never seen a full PG for
an EB-O and the holes would line up for
two PG's.

It didn't have any knobs because the pot
shafts were compressed. I carefully pried
the slots until I could put knobs on it. The
knobs I had on hand, so I only have $60
invested it.

Anyway, it sounds a lot like a Gibson if it
isn't played hard.

I like it.

Very likely those mods were done by a lefty bassist who plays right handed stringing. I always hate when my forearm hits the knobs and creates a surprise! I have a Gibson SG left hand bass modified and set up with a right hand nut and stringing. The Gibson is very nice and has its own sound, with the bridge p/u balancing out the neck p/u. I do not want to modify it any further. I recently picked up an Epiphone EBO in nice shape, and removed the pick guard also, just like yours. I found it to be quite "boomy", similar to my Gibson neck p/u alone. I right away replaced the Epiphone p/u with a DiMarzio Number One. It still has that boomy quality, yet the notes are much more defined. It is easy to adjust the poles so that each string has the same volume. I have not played it out yet, but I have rehearsal tomorrow. Maybe my wife [the piano player] won't notice that I am standing at the other end of the stage with a RED bass, not a BROWN one......

The toothpick/nail polish combination is a great idea! What you have done seems to mask the holes very well.

I wanted to up you-all on my EB-O progress.

I got darker nail polish and re-did the PG holes.

I took out the mud-bucker and replaced it with
a clear well defined guitar humbucker. It is a
potted HB out of a Washburn Model WI64DL.
I had to raise it a bit, but the response is
even across all 4 strings and

It Sounds 1,000% Better!

The pickups were from a guitar I upgraded so the
total cost of this bass is still just $60,
